Just back from a few days at this island hotel. Absolutely fabulous food and such friendly people!
A wide choice of food including shellfish caught locally and simply cooked. Homemade bread, pasta and scrumptious desserts. Even the breakfasts are outstanding - a starter of granola, yoghurt and fresh soft fruits, all in perfect condition. For lunch we had the homemade cheese and onion tart accompanied by a very fresh salad (all grown on the island). From the website it appears they've got some great winter prices - and I know we'll be back long before the winter's out. Great location and comfortable bedrooms. This place sets a standard for others which will be hard to beat. There were six of us, including two children who keep going on about their wonderful holiday.

Myself and my partner visited the hotel for an overnight on Sat 28th Sept. We arrived on the ferry in the morning and were picked up by Kevin, one of the owners, who quickly gave us a quick history lesson of the Island. We expected to wait a few hours for our room as we were early however our room was ready for us :) The room was lovely with a great view from the window. Kevin then sorted us out with bikes and off we went in search of a beach. In the evening we had dinner in the hotel. The food was really nice and value for money. We then went for a bit of stargazing and I can only describe the sky as spectacular. On our return we had some drinks in the wee but cosy bar and had a chat with one of the locals...who was pretty amusing to say the least :) We were up early to see the sun rise before breakfast then headed out on the bikes again before it was time for Kevin to drop us off for our ferry. I cant say enough about the Island and a hotel that is clearly a labour of love for the owners. A really personal service and a memory that'll stay with us for a very long time. We'll definitely be coming back. Darran & Laura

We arrived on Coll initially planning to spend just one night, but ended up staying for two. We stayed at the Coll Hotel and had a fabulous room with fantastic views over the bay. The food at both dinner time & breakfast was excellent & all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Even the locals would go out of their way to help you.
Will certainly go back again

On a recent visit to Coll, we ate several times at this hotel and to be honest the food was good, staff were at most times pleasant, the hotel was clean and seemed to be well run but after our second visit for a meal we heard one member of staff swearing at one of his work mates.

I did ask to speak with a manager and was told there are no management on shift but I could return in the morning and speak to them then. As we were leaving Coll the next day we did not get a chance to speak with anyone. I will return to Coll and will eat here again it just upset my wife very much I really dont think she will be comming with me, shame eh.

After reading other reviews and finding your comments about your staff not swearing I can tell you now they do swear.

I had stayed at this hotel previously when touring the Hebrides, and wanted to make extra sure we returned on this trip. A fab hotel with friendly and helpful staff, great food and a wonderful view of the bay and ferry. thoughtful little touches through out the hotel, including home made shortbread, bottled water, a stash of penny sweeties for the children, star gazing charts, sewing kits on home made pin cushions, bird books in your room and the usual shampoos, shower gels and cotton wool all contributed to the welcome, homely feel. There is even a borrow a teddy service for the children! The modern and clean decor does not take away from the traditional farmhouse feel of the building, and everything was spotlessly clean and tidy.

Bedrooms extremely comfortable with great pillows and fresh, clean bedding. plenty of sockets, mirrors etc. Every need catered for.

Beautifully kept, well stocked garden with helicopter landing pad at the front of the hotel, which is only a short drive from the ferry dock. Food in the restaurant delicious and lots of local seafood and produce to choose from. Lively bar, with a mixture of locals and hotel residents. Reasonably priced rooms and food. Cant wait to return again. Thank you! Wish we had been able to stay longer, to explore the island more and hire the free bikes.

Will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Love room no. 7 which looks over the bay and ferry dock and beautiful garden.

Great location with friendly and helpful staff and managers/owners. Food was good, particularly the range at breakfast. Evening meals were also nice, with good mainly local ingredients, lacked just a little sparkle to stop them getting 5 stars. Unusualy limited range of whisky for this type of establishment. Rooms were comfortable and well maintained, but not spacious. Overall the price of rooms was towards the high side of good value, even given the location and lack of competition. Free cycle hire on decent quality machines was a great way of seeing the island, which was more attractive (particularly the beaches) than some guides might suggest.

It was just over a year since my last visit, and once again I must say, the reception at the hotel is first class. The food is some of the best Ive ever had, and Ive eaten my way around the world!!
Whilst it is the only hotel/bar on the island the prices are very reasonable and quality is obviously high on their agenda
Many thanks for another great time
