Great food, owners and staff. I have wild camped a few times with the kind permission of the hotel, never had a problem with the sheep deposits etc, I simply take a small shovel to move the offending articles! showers and toilet facilities are available at the hotel and the new hall just a short distance away or you can now buy disposible toilets from most camping outlets. Thoroughly enjoyable stay as usual.

Myself and my stepdad visited the hotel whilst we were camping behind it. If you are camping, i strongly suggest that you go find somewhere else on Coll to camp and do not take the advice from the hotel about camping behind the church as you will be camping with sheep and their faeces and right next to where a massive fire has taken place. Also, the hotel do not tell you that you have to walk a fair way to get to the toilets at the community centre. Apparently, the owners of the hotel used to allow wild camping in a different place but have decided to build a house there now.

On the upside the food was very nice, we had cajun spiced burgers (small portions £6 each) which were lovely and the sticky toffee pudding was nice too. Unfortunately for us, the young girl behind the bar needed a touch of soap in her mouth to stop her from swearing, we were sitting by the bar in the small restaurant and could hear her swearing and they were all gossiping the whole time we were there, they didn't really seem interested in us to be honest. £3.40 for a pint is a bit extortionate as well. If we were on the island, we may visit again but to be honest we wouldn't make a special trip!

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We take all reviews seriously.
I am glad you enjoyed your meal but it is unfortunate that you were not able to camp where you used to. We have only ever offered free wild camping behind the church although some campers have chosen to go elsewhere on our land without premission. The clue is in the title 'wild camping', yes there are sheep grazing & we do allow the community to build a large bonfire for special occasions.
As to the comments about my staff. I have never heard one of my bar staff swearing, on or off duty, there are just not like that & I question whether this is true or that you were just annoyed that you couldn't camp where we are building our new home.
£3.40 is a fair price for a perfect pint of Loch Fyne ale.

We have stayed our three nights in this small boutique hotel and have found the experience one of the best. The owners have thought of everything - from a delightful welcome pack of home made shortbread and tablet, with other goodies, including a teddy to borrow if your wee one has forgotten his/hers; to excellent advice on what to do and where to go. If the weather allows there is a super pétanque area as well as a lovely extensive garden. The rooms are decorated in a simple but very tasteful style and as a result are very homely and welcoming. Where the hotel really wins though is through it's food. EXCELLENT! Of the highest quality and standard. The choice is wide with a wonderful selection of seafood all locally caught and cooked to a very high standard. The seafood platter was exceptional. All of the food is made on the premises by one of the owners who is a highly competent chef. I am looking freed to returning to Coll for the food experience as much as anything!

Room Tip: There ae only six rooms and all are very pleasant

We spent three nights here last week during a week touring in superb weather which no doubt colours my judgement but the hotel is in an excellent position overlooking the bay with nice gardens including a boules pitch which we enjoyed playing while having a pre dinner drink . Bedrooms and ensuite rather old fashioned but more than adequate but might not suit some tastes . Seafood in the restaurant a good choice and first class at reasonable prices as are the wine list prices . Free bike use for residents useful especially if travelling without a car as some of the nicest beaches are a few miles away .

Excellent location overlooking the harbour. Basking sharks regularly seen in the bay. Great food. Excellent service. Can't fault it, really nice place. This hotel is very popular amongst private pilots who fly into the landing strip on Coll which is 15 minutes away by car. We often vist the hotel for lunch and have never been disappointed. Sometimes the hotel staff will collect us from the airport and if they are busy they arrange a taxi to collect us. Great service and friendly staff. One of the most beautiful settings in Scotalnd make this a must for visitors to the Scottish islands.

Thank you so much for your review.
I agree, it was an exceptional & unfortunate dinner service where a couple of locals spoilt the evening & made service very difficult for our staff. The locals have been spoken too & the staff have received support & guidance.
This may have been why one of the girls seemed off hand. My apologies & I hope you will visit us again & give us another chance.

Our first visit to Coll which we booked up well in advance as accommodation is very limited on the island. The hotel was extermely comfortable, and the staff very friendly. There is a small residents dining room, and maybe we were lucky that the other residents were like-minded, but it made for an excellent atmosphere in the hotel. The food was first class, and local fish was always on the menu. Our room was very comfortable, and the view looking across to Mull superb. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel, and will return ourselves.
