The cottage is based at the north end of South Uist so is in an ideal position to explore from North Uist down to Barra and everywhere in between. This was our second visit here having been here 2 years ago. It is a spacious 3 bedroom cottage, with views overlooking a tidal loch from the kitchen and a small lochan and mountain from the lounge (there are views from all the bedrooms as well). It is lovely and clean, very well equipped and comfortable. There is wildlife all around you with Hen Harriers seen daily and a total of 21 species seen from there in a week. When we were here 2 years ago we even saw an otter on our first evening! Sandra the owner is very friendly and helpful and it was lovely to meet her this time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone, you will not be disappointed. If you've never been to the Outer Hebrides and are thinking about going, just go, it is a beautiful unspoilt area of the world.
What a fabulous place - both the cottage and the location far exceeded our expectations. The cottage was very homely and very well equipped. The views from the windows were amazing - we even saw Hen Harrier and Short-Eared Owls from the windows. There is a Co-Op supermarket a few minutes drive from the cottage and the nearby Orasay Inn is excellent for an evening meal. The cottage is centrally located on The Uists / Benbecula meaning it is very handy for exploring the whole area. We had an amazing week at Lily Pond Cottage and did not want to leave. If (when!) we return to the area, we will definitely stay here again.
The cottage is located near the to the Benbecula causeway on South Uist down a side road from the main road, and is beautifully spacious and well-equipped.
Easy to visit both Uists and Benbecula, as well as Eriskay and Berneray all within less than an hour's drive. What a beautiful landscape!
We also took a trip to the Monach Isles with Lady Anne Boat Trips - great to visit the islands, but a rather battered old boat and a pretty uncommunicative skipper!
We had dinner with friends at the nearby Orasay Inn, which was very nice.
The cottage is wonderful. We really enjoyed our time here, often sleeping in the beds are so comfy.
I enjoyed many an evening sitting out enjoying the view, even if it was a little windy.
The wildlife was great too, and it was nice to see a couple of horses in the field beyond.
The cottage is very close to the local co-op should you need anything.
we stayed in the cottage in june and found the cottage perfect for our needs, cosy ,quiet, and spacious.
sandra could'nt have been more helpful and obliging.
i would fully recommend the cottage to all.
Clean, tidy, comfortable and with everything you could want from a base to explore the islands. Almost central in the island chain made it very handy for exploring - lots of places to walk and a great variety of wildlife to see.
