Having read the reviews I booked here with some trepidation. The hotel was easy to get to by car (not taxi) from the airport for just 100 Baht. Check in was fine and the room and bathroom were of a good size with adequate toiletries. The outsides of the room doors certainly needed some repainting and the room walls needed repapering. The buffet breakfast was adequate...the hotel seems to cater mainly for Thais and other asians and therefore there was a lot of asian food ...the western food was not too palatable but do try the freshly cooked Vietnamese fried eggs...after that I filled up on corn flakes and toast. The staff struggled gamefully with limited English and tried to fob me off with a car and driver (presumably belonging to hotel) at an extortionate rate to visit Wat That Phanom, claiming the distance of 53km was too far for a "tuk tuk" to go - the first tuk tuk I asked outside took me at about 40% of what I would have paid for a car and driver.
The room had no tea/coffee making facilities and, while there was a large balcony overlooking the Mekong, there were no tables and chairs on it, something asian guests would not want!
Beware the bedside control panel to operate all the lights, except bathroom, as it is extremely difficult to see which buttons to push when the room is in almost complete darkness...the lights which are on when the key card is removed to leave the room do not come back on when the key card is reinserted.
Loaction by the river is fine but it is a bit far from the centre of town...but just a 20 baht "tuk tuk" ride

Did not stay but checked out many rooms. Hotel is 2km south of town centre on the Mekong. Very quiet in July.

Certainly the hotel needs major maintenance and the low rise 'wing rooms', although cheap with river view are unpleasantly scruffy, Side tower rooms are larger and airier and have a nice 'side view' of the river.

At B1600 inc breakfast the front tower rooms have great front and corner views of the Mekong and seem very comfortable and look in reasonable condition. Certainly a great place to unwind for couple of days if you're not on a budget!

Room tip: 1606 or 1607 are the rooms to have if you're not on a budget!

So I should not complain, really, since I paid 600 bht for a room including breakfast for two ( a nice buffett). But why don't they put some money into this old gal? Nakhon is BOOMING all over, and this is a seriously awesome piece of real estate. The views of the river are fantastic and the pool is lovely. But all the straight forward river view rooms are twin beds unless you go up to the top floor. The double bed rooms face south and are much less well situated. I have stayed in the deluxe rooms on the upper floors too, which are nice and big but I think I paid 1700 bht. And then there is the condition of the actual rooms- tiny ancient panasonic tvs (including in the expensive rooms), horrible fraying carpets, unpainted patches in the walls- and a kind of dingy smell and look to the place. Lumpy old beds, furniture that would be turned away at a second hand shop. I just don't get it. I must add that the staff were fabulous and the food is good. If the condition of the rooms does not mean as much to you as the view- save some $ and stay here- If you want a sharp and super clean room with no views for less- go to the SP in town. It's not on Trip Advisor but tuk tuk drivers will know where it is- on the same road as Tesco Lotus but closer to the river.

Room tip: Make sure you go and see the view and condition of the room.

My wife and I stayed here for a week while working with Rotary International in the city. Yes, the place could use some updating but overall was a nice hotel. Food was good and had an outdoor pool. Rooms were adequate and the view was great from the upper floors.
