Old Drynie House
Reviewed December 11, 2012

I was so sad to leave after our 3 day stay

Everything about Old Drynie House was fantastic. In a magical setting with loads of places to walk to -fantastic woodland garden - so close to Inverness and yet tucked away in a rural
settting on the Black Isle.. Deirdre and Alaster were the best of hosts and made us so welcome in their luxurious but comfortable accommodation....maggie & John

Dreidre and Alasdair are such a wonderful couple, and we tremendously enjoyed our 3-night stay with them. They have a beautiful house and the rooms that we stayed in were great. Situated in a beatiful setting in a forest only 10 minutes' drive from Inverness - their home is a perfect base for touring the highlands. Dreidre made us excellent breakfasts and Alasdair was so helpful in giving us tips on the best places to visit. And most important - both of them were some warm and welcoming that we really felt like at home and were sorry to leave. We highly recommend this B&B for both couples and families !!

Drynie house exceeded our expectations. It is set in lovely grounds, which are beautifully maintained. Our room was clean and comfortable. The hosts Alasdair and Deirdre are so helpful
and friendly, they went out of their way to accommodate us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and would have no hesitation in recommending Old Drynie house to anyone.

The first time I visited this property was with my husband and a friend as we were traveling across Scotland from Aberdeen to Ullapool. We decided to stop in Inverness to have a look around and our friend really wanted to have the B&B experience. While I am usually much more of a boutique hotel type of girl, I thought it would be fun to check out something else. We were not disappointed!

Upon calling to make our reservation, Dierdre asked if we had any special requests, and I explained that my husband was on a big kick for smoked haddock for breakfast. She acquired our fish for breakfast and everyone started out our road trip in an amazing mood because it was cooked to perfection and we had a fantastic breakfast. We also really loved our room with big bathroom and comfortable bed. Dierdre was very accommodating and when we checked in, we stayed and talked with her and Alasdair in their living room like old friends. We got some great dinner tips for the evening and headed out for a fun night in Inverness, which was easy to reach from their house.

We enjoyed our experience so much, that when my mom visited Scotland last fall, I had to take her back to stay at the Old Dyrnie House. We traveled all around Scotland and she said that this was her favorite part of the trip. She loved the hospitality and talking with Alasdair for hours about golfing in the area. We had another fantastic breakfast and spent the rest of our trip driving about Scotland discussing when we were going to come back for a golf outing.

This B&B is fantastic, with the little extra taste of luxury that makes me want to keep returning. The setting, location, service, extra touches, fabulous breakfast and amazing hosts makes this an amazing place to stay and I highly recommend to anyone!

Beautiful accommodations. Gracious hosts! Alisdair and Diedre went "above and beyond" to make our stay in their lovely home the BEST part of our 17 day trip to the UK. I'm not a golfer, but my brother is. Alisdair is a RABID golfer and he kindly took my brother to play @ The Royal Dornach (spelled wrong?) where he is a member. They made us feel like members of their family as opposed to guests! Would stay there again, for longer, in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: All the rooms were lovely!

The other reviewers have got it down when they say this place is beautiful, luxurious, and more beautiful again, but I want to tell everyone how wonderful Deirdre and Alasdair were to us. When we left, it felt like leaving old friends though we'd only stayed there two nights. I stayed in B&Bs all over the country, and this one topped them all. Don't let the peaceful seclusion of the location fool you--you will want to stay here.

Old Drynie House is on the Black Isle just over the Kessock Bridge from Inverness and well worth the journey. The house is located in a rural setting but is only 15 minutes from Inverness city. The house is actually less than 20 years old but has been built in a very traditional style that looks very in-keeping with the surroundings with the house being in a tree-lined setting with views over the estuary. The rooms are now all en-suite and finished to a very high standard with good TVs and WiFi as standard. Alasdair and Deirdre are great hosts and the breakfast was enough to keep us going all day. There is loads to do in the area from golf, to fishing to Nessy-hunting!
