“Exquisite, Understated, Elegant”

Without doubt some of the finest service you will experience anywhere: from the time you arrive, you recieve a very personal welcome and thorough introduction to the hotel and surrounds. The hotel's facade looks unassuming enough, like a standard pub and hotel, belying the quality of the hotel which is everything but standard - the interior decor is classic with hints of Africa (told the last owner was South African); the front part of the hotel, the original 450-year old trading post, houses a neat bar and two lounges which provide a cosy, comfortable atmosphere, and has been skilfully appended to at its rear, to provide modern accommodation, recreational and dining facilities. Rooms were faultlessly clean and thoughtfully provisioned, though our only gripe was that ours did not face onto the nearby Loch Tay, 300m away, with the backdrop of mountains. The hotel is well-located on the east side of Loch Tay which appears to be quieter than the west side, in terms of traffic and general tourist thoroughfare, though still in the heartland to explore the region. Nearby short walk (2 miles) to the Acharn Waterfalls must not be missed, delightful.

The highlight of our one night stay was the gourmet dinner, arranged as a 5 or 8 course degustation menu that is exquisitely presented, with locally-sourced ingridients, worked in delightful ways. The bonus was being taken to meet the geniuses who prepared the meal as an after dinner treat.

Hotel has recently changed hands and it appears the new management is doing further renovations (did notice the need for more wall hangings in the main lounge that gave it a bare feel, but this is knit picking).

The staff and food make this place and we would unreservedly recommended the hotel as a culinary experience, in exceptionally serviced comfort. Top class!

My wife and I were fortunate to have been at the Ardeonaig Hotel for the last 3 days. James and the awesome hotel staff provided us with 72 hours of pure enjoyment, relaxation and absolutely the best food. New Years Eve was the best ever with a gourmet 8 course meal and excellent wine (wine was extra but James selected it for us, and it was perfect). Great service (we were addressed by our first names at all times), excellent food, beautiful hotel and location. We are from the US and we met many many wonderfully friendly Scottish friends. Can't wait to go back. We didn't want to leave... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Room Tip: There are many good rooms - all are excellent! We think the suites are the best.

My partner treated me for Christmas to an overnight stay in Sheiling number 5. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with such warmth from Christophe who showed us around the grounds and offered to help us unload the car.
The Sheiling itself was superb and very cosy in the winter time with a very luxurious bathroom.
We were given a choice of menus for dinner and went for the tasting menu- 7 courses of pure delight!
The hotel itself is a delight with a log fire and a library with a fantastic view.
The staff, hotel and grounds are superb and I will be back next year.

My wife and I stayed for two nights on a Xmas package. Everything about our stay was first class. We booked into a Shieling, number 5 and nearest the loch, it was superb and very private. The food and drink was up there with the best that we have experienced from top hotels and restaurants throughout the UK and overseas - if not consistently the best. The service from James, Christof, Tom and Angelica could not be better; it was thoroughly professional but very friendly and polite which contributed to a lovely atmosphere throughout our stay. The location of the hotel is sublime.

My wife and I do not often go back to a hotel a second time as there are so many places to visit. However, we will certainly be making an exception with the Ardeonaig Hotel as it is truly a very special place which provides a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Book a Shieling for your stay, we were in number 5 which is so peaceful and private.

We had booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal through a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. We were treated to an upgrade to one of their Sheiling rooms which are very nice. There is limited wifi and no TV signal so expect to go for a chill out and get away from it stay.
James and his team were first class from the moment we arrived and the evening meal was probably one of the best I have experienced in Scotland hats off to the chefs and again for the sunday morning breakfast.
This is a 4 star hotel with 5 star service and 5 star dining.
I look forward to going back for a visit again soon.

From the minute we arrived to the time we left this felt special. James, Christophe and the team made us feel very welcome and were excellent hosts. The hotel has real charm and character but at the same time is one of the most luxurious places I've stayed. Food superb, setting amazing.

In short, if you've looking for somewhere for a special stay in the heart of picturesque Scotland, this place will really hit the spot.

My wife and I dined here in 2002. It was truly a magical experience and one of our highlights to our Scottish trip. I highly recommend and we will be going back to spend a holiday at the inn? We stayed at our timeshare at Kenmore so this was a short drive.
