“Amazing Tuscan Experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

Amazing views, perfect and genuine Tuscan countryside experience, excellent wine and charcuterie creations - these are just a few of the very many highlights that come to our minds when thinking of our visit to Valdonica. The property manager, Massimo, was fantastic - from helping us set up transportation to tending to our every need and making us feel at home, he made us feel as though we were family, making this holiday all the more enjoyable!

The only critique that we have is that we were not offered our complimentary bottle of wine as advertised. When we asked for our complimentary bottle, it was a tad awkward.

Room Tip: If you're going for privacy, the villa rooms are perfect; contrary, if you're wanting more i...

My husband and I recently stayed at Valdonica for 3 nights as part of our 2 week trip to Italy and Greece. We agreed that this was the most unique and memorable place we visited, and were terribly sad to leave. The service is fantastic. Throughout my planning, I emailed Massimo a dozen times - and he was always quick to get back to me and offer advice to help us have the most enjoyable time possible. We did not rent a car, but would probably want to do so next time. Transportation is limited, so Julia and Massimo offered several options of places we could go by foot or bicycle. Our villa was beautiful and the views were stunning. The owner, Martin, is incredibly humble and just a fascinating person. Julia took care of us throughout our stay, and of all the amazing people we have met during our trip, she is our favorite. The highlight of our time at Valdonica was the cooking class and dinner. It was an incredible experience. Not only did we learn how to make fresh pasta, veal saltimboca, and Italian cake - we also had the chance to sit down with other guests from around the world, and truly get to know them and their culture. We drank bottles and bottles of wine, and Martin left us to lock up the wine cellar. We stayed until 1am and met some really great people. We are so grateful for everything the Valdonica team did for us, and can't wait to go back! If you are looking for a truly authentic Italian experience - this is it. Oh - and don't forget to visit Marco's pizzeria! Best food we had in all of Italy!

We have just returned from one of the best holidays we've ever had! The villa we stayed in at Valdonica was superb, spacious, clean and like a home away from home. The location is perfect as you can see from the pictures we have posted. The staff is over the top when it came to helping us with anything we needed. I would recommend Valdonica to anyone looking for a vacation place to return to each time you visit Italy. Valadonica being a winery, we can't forget to mention the wine and olive oil, one of the best we had while tourning Italy.

My family and I visited Valdonica to celebrate my mother's 65th birthday. Because of the setting, the surroundings, and the staff, this will be a memory she'll hold tightly for the rest of her life.

From the first moment, as you come upon the breathtaking view of the vineyard and Mediterranean, it's clear this is a slice of heaven on earth. The rooms were emaculate and the wine was...well...words can't do it justice. But what I'll remember most is the owner.

Martin took care of my family as though it were his own, showing us unmatched hospitality. He is passionate about Valdonica, something that is immediately and deeply apparent, and has created a once in a lifetime experience for anyone fortunate enough to visit.

I'll cherish the memories, the smells, the sights, the sounds, the people forever.

We stayed only one night at Valdonica in late September, 2012. This place is quaint and AMAZING! I would recommend staying here before it becomes so popular you won't be able to book a room. The property is so peaceful and quiet. The vineyard is beautiful, and the accommodations are top-notch! The hospitality of the staff was unmatched. I HIGHLY recommend attending the dinner prepared by the staff and the wine tastings hosted by the owner, Martin. It was truly amazing. Martin is passionate about his wines, and after tasting them, I see why. The dinner was the highlight of our trip. The dinner was hosted in the room where they store all of the wine barrels. At the end of the meal, Martin literally left us with several bottles of wine and left us in the room with all of the barrels and told us to lock up on our way out! I couldn't believe the trust he had for his guests with his entire livelihood there in the room with us. Martin made us feel like close friends or family rather than one night guests at his vineyard. The vineyard is all organic and as of 2012, all of the grapes are grown there on the Valdonica property. There is a sitting area just down from the rooms that sits high on a hill overlooking several vineyards and towns, and you can even see the sea. Don't miss this property. Our only regret is not having stayed there more than one night. For one night stay and the amazing dinner and wine for 2, we paid about 219 euro. An absolute bargain. Also, they give you one bottle of their wine in your room with each stay, which was a nice touch.

Room Tip: Pay the extra few bucks and get the room with the vineyard view. It's worth it.

My husband and I stayed at some great places in Italy but Valdonica stands out as the most amazing. The winery overlooks a breathtaking view of Tuscany. The simple, modern decor of the room pairs well with the beauty of the location. The owners and staff are incredibly hospitable and are passionate about their wine. The wine is amazing. The breakfast is amazing. We didn't want to leave Valdonica and we will definitely be going back.

Valdonica is an amazing place to visit and stay. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Massimo was great and helped us find places to eat and even made reservations for us. Eric was also quite helpful and a great asset to the winery. The wine tasting was entertaining and the wine was fantastic. Views are unbelievable and the winery itself is beautiful and modern.
