“An Ideal Experience”
Reviewed July 16, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

My husband and I stayed at Villa Rouge for six weeks while we were visiting friends in the Lot Valley this May/June and we loved it! The beautifully restored stone cottage was spacious, comfortable and was furnished with everything we needed for a perfect stay. It was very private and peaceful and had an expansive view of the surrounding landscape. There were lovely places to hang out on the deck, by the pool and around the grounds. Alain greeted us when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. After that, he was always available if we had any questions. We settled in immediately and felt right at home. The grounds and the pool were well maintained and we never had to worry about anything. Sandra, the owner, was easy to book with and very nice and accommodating in her correspondence.

We were a little hesitant at first to book online without seeing the property but the reviews were all so positive, we decided to take a chance. We're so glad we did! Villa Rouge was an ideal experience and we will definitely be returning.

“Beautifully appointed gite near a delightful bastide in Lot-et-Garonne”
Reviewed February 12, 2016 for a stay in October 2015

My sister and her husband were looking for accommodation to give them independence whilst visiting us in Tournon d'Agenais. We found this property via trip advisor and all the excellent reviews were true. A delightful property renovated and furnished to a very high standard. As it is so near to our home I am sure we will be using it again for friends and family in the future

“Villa Rouge - Comfortable, Scenic, Wonderful stay”
Reviewed October 2, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed for 7 days at the Villa Rouge & loved every minute. Inside and out is as amazing as the picture look. Alain was great and took care of one issue we had with the gas tripping off and was onsite within 10 minutes.
The living area and beds were all extremely comfortable.
Sandra the host was perfect when booking and answered any questions I had very quickly.
Overall this place was great and I would have loved to have been here longer!

“Fabulous villa holiday with our dog!”
Reviewed July 10, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

These photos do not do the property justice - it is beautiful, private, not overlooked and very spacious. It was very clean and incredibly pretty with all you need although with lovely traditional French features too. The front house just contains the snooker table; the main villa is behind it by the pool where there is seating for all times of the day. Bed was very comfortable and under floor heating surprised us when it came on but lovely if it was a bit chilly on any particular day!

Alain the caretaker was very easy to get hold of if necessary, and very accommodating, although he speaks no English, so a smattering of French is advised.

The bedrooms were beautiful and homely and very comfortable, the living area open plan and airy and very conducive to relaxing of an evening. The bathroom/utility is huge! Very well appointed and luxurious with large bath and shower, and enormous American style fridge to chill the fine local wines..

Although we didn't visit in the height of summer, we had a wonderful stay, and we would not hesitate to come back to this lovely villa in the future.

“The perfect place to escape and unwind”
Reviewed July 5, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This beautiful and exceedingly well equipped gite is tucked away, secluded and private. Approached by a private drive it has everything you need. You get the impression the owners have taken a lot of time and given a lot of thought to making the place homely and welcoming. It is obvious they use it too.

The photographs do not and cannot do it justice. It has everything you need and the tiny local town is lovely to have coffee in the square, to sit and watch and to soak up the historic atmosphere.
A must if you want a break to unwind and recharge.

“Beautiful, comfortable holiday home, excellent, friendly service.”
Reviewed September 5, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed in Villa Rouge with our two children (7 and 9 years) for two weeks in July. The house really is even nicer than the photos suggest. I agree with an earlier review that it feels much more like someone's beautiful home that you are staying in, rather than a holiday let! Very comfortably furnished with a mixture of vintage french & contemporary furniture. Everything is very well thought out. Lovely crisp, white cotton bedding and a generous supply of large fluffy white towels and pool towels were supplied. Capsules for the nespresso machine and a welcome bottle of local Rose on arrival. Internet and a laptop for those who cannot live without technology! There is also a TV/DVD player so remember to bring films if you are that way inclined.
Even better, the outside terraces, gardens and pool were beautiful, well kept and completely private and peaceful. The pool is not heated, but on the hotter days, this was not an issue, as it was a relief to cool off and the children were in the water every day for hours.
Alain the housekeeper was so friendly and helpful, we even managed to communicate with our very minimal french and his very minimal English! Sandie the owner was a pleasure to communicate with over the booking. We ran into a minor problem with the Internet, which was responded to and sorted immediately. The area is delightful, with the beautiful countryside, Lot river, bastide villages, markets, restaurants, caves etc to explore when you are ready to leave the house!

My only complaint this year was the weather, which was very changeable. Last year we stayed in the area and had two weeks of beautiful sun and 30 degree plus temperatures! But even on rainy days, the house is so comfortable to relax in, it was not that much of an issue!
I would thoroughly recommend Villa Rouge to anyone planning a visit to the region.

“Stunning private villa with pool in South of France”
Reviewed May 20, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Our first trip to France with our black Labrador was to Villa Rouge and what a find this place was. After literally hours of research using every conceivable website and tool I could get my hands on we finally chose this property and weren't disappointed. The property itself is beautifully furnished, the main living space very spacious and lovingly decorated. The bedrooms are well appointed with proper duvets.

The kitchen has everything you need. Two fridges, one small in the main part of the kitchen, one large hidden away towards the bathroom. I particularly liked the Nespresso coffee machine, a nice touch.

Outside is where this property really shines. There's a large decking area with two sun loungers, a table and six chairs and a bench. The view from the decking is stunning. Rolling fields of barley leading down to a lake. The sun sets right there in front of you. I don't think the pictures really do this part of the experience justice but trust me, the days we would spend just sitting watching the slow sunset were some of the best I've ever experienced.

The pool, as others have said is very impressive. It's large, deep and seems to constantly filter itself so always looks pristine. The diving board is particularly fun. It's not heated but that didn't seem to matter, once you're in, you soon adapt to it. There are two more loungers by next to the pool for...well, lounging.

There is another house on the site but Sandra, the owner, assured us it would be vacant during our stay and it was. Although there is a brand new pool table inside this building which provided much fun in the evenings.

Sandra left a list of recommended local wines and we did a small tour of some of those wineries all within a 20 minute drive.

There is a substantial amount of land surrounding the villa which is nice to walk around, swings for the kids and a hammock.

There's a supermarket in nearby Tournon dÁgenais and a very big supermarket at Fumel. All in all a magical place and we basically sat and did not a lot for the week and you know what...Villa Rouge was exactly the place to do it.

For a private villa with the wow factor in a perfect location, you can't go wrong with Villa Rouge.
