This place is located on a hill overlooking the ocean. So beautiful! The beach is a rocky, private, rustic beach full of beautiful stones and warmish water. We only stayed one night but we sat on the porch after eating a home cooked meal and watched the sunset, and later, the moonrise, thinking this was a slice of paradise. The room is lovely, very much like a cabin. There is no staff after 7 pm and the office never answered their phone, so we had to walk over if we wanted something. We made sure we took care of everything before 7 ! Also, the staff never arrived until 9 am. It didn't bother us but it's good to know. Something else good to know, especially if you are a light sleeper- At 3am the fisherman drove right past our cabin on the way to their fishing boats and every one of them hit a big pothole which was like a crash! Not good! Also, no wifi! I had to sit on the porch at the office to check our next travel. Not great! For one night, with perfect weather, this was beautiful. But for the price, the lack of wifi and the 3am traffic we probably wouldn't go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 12 and it was lovely, other than the road noise at 3 am.

Was here for a wedding at the end of June. I did not stay at the sunset as a guest but did go for the reception that was being held here in their restaurant. I have to say that this place was very beautiful, the view was amazing and also the food & desert were so good I had to go get seconds.

This place is a total ripoff. We had ordered their romantic escape weekend, which was supposed to come with wine and fruit and snacks. Instead we got a fruit juice and some hard muffins. The rooms are musty ,cold and damp. The Jacuzzi did not work. There was no breakfast available in their restaurant the next morning and we had to buy lobster from a fisherman on the beach at 8 o'clock in the morning. I know there are not a lot of places to choose from when you're on the Cabot Trail but this place is absolutely the wrong choice... better to sleep in your car. You would still get the view and it wouldn't cost you a fortune as this place charges

Booked online. Was not expecting much because there was not much else in area and I am use to staying at name brand hotels. Wow, were we pleasantly surprised, What a beautiful place. Located right on the ocean. There was nothing between our front door and the ocean. We could view it from every window. Our cottage was very spacious and also very clean. The bedroom was large. Only negatives would be that the bed was not very comfortable and the TV was small and old. Having said that, it would be a shame if you went to this beautiful place and wanted to watch TV for any length of time. There is a restaurant on site as well and it was fantastic. Best meal we had on our 10 day vacation.

I just visited the Island Sunset for the first time in 3 years. The food and service was better than ever! This is easily one of the best places, if not the best place, to eat between the Glenora Distillery and the end of the Cabot Trail. Excellent food, excellent service, great wine menu, a wonderful waterfront view and a modern, cozy design. The "steak and ale" nights they host during the summer months are also a wonderful way to spend an evening, with live music and food and drink specials. The accommodations seemed to have been freshly painted and looked especially nice light up by the solar lights all over the grounds in the evening. This place is a must stop (..even if it was for the restaurant alone)!

I was afraid when I booked the Island Sunset that it would be too far removed from any town and maybe not exactly what I was looking for, but it was great & we were so happy to be there. It is right on the Cabot Trail, close to the entrance of the Highlands National Park. It was extremely clean. It has up to date furniture, wood floors, modern kitchen, spa tub & separate shower. 2 Restaurants on site, one more for lunch, one for dinner.

When we first got there we ate at their Lobster Pound & which is right on their property. It was fantastic, little picnic tables to eat at & the most delicious lobster rolls! That night we ate at their full restaurant which had entertainment (fiddle & keyboardist) which was amazing & lively and the whole place was loving it.
They don't have breakfast here - but down the road there was a great place where we had a fantastic breakfast, (Belle View?). It doesn't open til 8 which is when we got there & were the only people there, not sure why but it was excellent and so glad we chose it.

We had a great experience here and would recommend highly to anyone who is going to hike the Skyline Trail, go whale watching in Pleasant Bay, drive the Cabot Trail and need clean, comfortable, roomy and convenient accommodations.

Cheticamp area is a pretty wind swept and treeless area but has nice ocean views. We paid quite a lot for this hotel and did not find it good value. The rooms were spacious and nicely appointed and the beds were comfortable but the cleanliness seemed to be lacking in the hallway and bathroom areas. In addition there were a huge number of earwigs (creepy crawly insects) that we had to get rid of when we entered the room. Would not recommend this hotel.
