If you are going near the Seven Sacred Pools and you have packed a lunch this a wonderful place to escape the crowds at Ohe'o Gulch and the park. Stop and see Charles Lindbergh's grave but don't miss the graves of Sam Pryor"s family...Pryor was a good friend of Lindbergh. Pryor is buried here with his six Chimpanzees. You will see the six graves of Pryor's "children" buried next to Pryor and his wife... As for that lunch, standing at the Lindbergh grave turn to look at the sea, to the left, there is a nice picnic place through a gate...go down a grass slope to a picnic table... that has a good view of the water....On a really good day you might also be blessed with a view of the Big Island.

Although I have been to Oheo Gulch many times, this was my first trip to Lindburgh's gravesite. It is only a mile past the Sacred Pools. The ranger at the Pools confirmed the driving direction. Previous trip advisor reviews confirm the ranger's directions. The site is very serene, very poignant and understated. The fact that hordes of people don't flock to this site helps retain its serenity. It is a lovely place to have a quiet picnic. To repeat what others have said, Charles Lindburgh could have chosen any place to rest, but chose this sight, which speaks volumes. After leaving the Sacred Pools, proceed past marker 41 and turn left at the sign that says Maui Stables. Another left turn when you cannot drive further takes you to a quaint church. There will be no signage indicating you are at Lindburgh's gravesite. Park your vehicle and meander. The view from the park won't disappoint.

If you make it to the Sacred Falls (Halaekala National Park- Kipahulu Area), you should drive here ~ 15-20 min. drive to Mile Marker #41-- 1/10 mile past it on the left--drive through narrow gravel road to reach the Palapala Mo'omau Church on your left. It is a simple stone marker that faces the Oceanside. Very quiet area, although small tour buses make it out here as well. Keep an eye out on the distance on your odometer as there is not evident sign for the exit.

Seeing Mr Lindbergh's grave will definitely remind you why he cherished SE Maui island. The church is down a small street, but once there you'll easily spot his tomb and - if you're lucky - be rewarded with views of The Big Island.

This is not too far from Oheo Gulch/Sacred Pools, so go ahead and drive that extra mile. It's an underwhelming grave, as far as graves go, but good to pay respects, a very peaceful place, and if you pass through the cemetery there's a quaint little park with a breathtaking view of the coast. Also in the cemetery, you can see the six graves of his friend's pet monkeys. (Look it up!)
