Dear Jim M:

Your kind review captures some of the very best attributes of Las Alamandas! We can’t claim credit for the natural beauty – location is everything. But we’ve made the most of our eco-paradise, from the organic cuisine to the colorful plazas encircled with tropical flowers and expansive lawns with towering palms. Our staff takes great pride in welcoming our guests, and extending the sweet and sincere hospitality that defines the Mexican spirit. We hope you’ll return often, so we can thank you in person!

Warmest regards,
General Manager, Las Alamandas

Las Alamandas is an extraordinary, magical, secluded resort on the Costalegre. It is rare to find somewhere so unspoilt and so beautiful with great service and delicious food. I love that so many fruit and vegetables come from their orchards. This was not my first visit, I love to escape there to relax the mad , hectic world and this time went with friends, who loved it. We had a great time, some with just books, beach and massages and others riding, kayaking and hiking. The staff are kind, smiling and attentionate, everyone is always trying their best to make your stay not just enjoyable but really special. Thank you, it really is special !

Dear Guest:

With 1,500 acres of pristine land along the Pacific coast, we are blessed with all we need to provide not only the organic, farm-to-table cuisine that you enjoyed, but also an unparalleled array of invigorating outdoor activities. Of course, having the opportunity to do nothing at all – in a hammock, at the pool, on your terrace, or on a beach – is another advantage of our location. We’re so glad you’ve made Las Alamandas your second home. Please come back soon!

With warm regards,

General Manager

Getting to Las Alamandas is half the fun. The website says 1 hr and 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta, but it took us closer to 3 hours with little traffic. The drive is quite pleasant (through the Sierra Madres and then along the coast)and the roads are good.
We arrived to discover that we were the only guests at the resort, giving us 1500 acres as our own personal playground. The accommodation (ocean view villa with rooftop hot tub) was bright, clean, and comfortable. As others have pointed out, the ocean currents are quite nasty on the beach. In spite of signs warning of this we tried boogie boarding and I was driven head first into the ocean floor on my first attempt. Luckily sand is fairly forgiving!
The food was OK. Quite pricy, not very inventive, and not always fresh (we had very stale chips served to us on every occasion). The Tecuns (Mexican raccoons, that look more like big rats with long tails) running around the dining room terrace was a more nature than we needed!
The staff tries hard and are very attentive.
There isn't much to do, but the vistas are fantastic. If you go to Las Alamandas...go with someone that you REALLY want to spend quality time with. I did, and it was a memorable getaway.

Dear Guest: Thank you so much for your recent visit, and for taking the time to write a review. Las Alamandas can arrange transfers from both Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo airports, and we also have a private landing strip which makes the trip quite short and easy – as well as scenic. We are surprised that it took you so long as it never takes our drivers that length of time, even with traffic, of course, deserted beaches are not found in the Centre of town. Many wonderful activities are offered from biking, tennis, horse riding and kayaking on the lagoons. Guests can choose to be as active as they want. As to the one "tejon” who visits us regularly: he is like an unofficial mascot – and he’s very cute! You are right that it is best to go to Las Alamandas with someone you REALLY want to spend quality time with – which you did and so of course you had a "memorable getaway"!

With warm regards,
General Manager, Las Alamandas

We've returned from four nights at Las Alamandas where we booked an ocean-view and garden view suite. Generally we were pleased with the property and the experience. Although it was quite full, it felt private and secluded. The rooms are simple but large and quite comfortable. First time guests should be prepared for the fact that there are not a lot of activities. The beach is not considered safe for swimming due to riptides, for example. We did go horseback riding and mountain bikes are available, but it is not a highly active destination. The quibbles i have with the place are largely related to its restaurant. You have no other option but to eat at the restaurant (which is quite beautifully situated) but the food is two-star, 2 1/2 at best. It's quite limited and repetitive. The servers could not be more pleasant but many of our orders were forgotten (something at every meal). Dinner consists of a chicken, fish and beef selection which starts to feel a bit like an airline. It's expensive which would be fine if the quality reflected the price but frankly it doesn't.

We did have a beautiful beach dinner which could not have been more lovely and the stars were incredible.

I was particularly interested in visiting las alamandas because we have travelled frequently to the El Tamardindo resort (which has been closed but is rumoured to be re-opening this autumn). For those of you who have been to El Tamarindo it's my feeling that they still set the standard for luxury vacation experience on the Costalegre. Las Alamandas was pleasing and we'll probably return.

Dear Guest: We’re so pleased that you enjoyed your first stay with us! As you pointed out, one of the features that our guests appreciate most is the privacy and spaciousness of our beautiful villas. Even when the resort is completely full, your serenity and relaxation are assured. And the exquisite dinner on the beach which you enjoyed so much, under the amazing stars, is an incomparable dining experience. We sincerely hope you will return soon. We look forward with pleasure to welcoming you back!

Decorated,on the ocean, great service, private and ideal for honeymooners.would not hesitate to recommend itit is 3 hours from PuertoVallarta, but the resort afford transfers for a fee,and it is advisable to use it,as the roads out of the city are not well kept

Dear Guest: We couldn't agree more: Las Alamandas is a honeymooner’s paradise! As you suggested, using our private transfer service from both Puerto Vallarta (PVR) and Manzanillo Airports (ZLO) is the most comfortable way to travel. Another option, if budget permits, is air transfers directly to Las Alamandas, since our property has a private airstrip. You’re absolutely right about the oceanfront villas: views are spectacular, and the sound of the ocean will lull you to sleep. Sweet dreams in Paradise!
