“Turn back in time”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

I have seen this place when I was a kid and went back again when we were scouting on a place for wedding reception. I was shocked that everything is still intact from before and I think they added some spaces for new attractions but still haven't seen it. Inside are rooms used by the late President Marcos and his family. Although do not expect a grand mansion since there were only few things left from their time since it was said before that during the EDSA Revolution and the Marcoses left the country, the place was ransacked by the people. I only hope that the government could fix the place up especially the road going there since the road is so rough and there are no streetlights.

“Include in your list”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

It's not what I have imagined it to be. By today's standard, the place is pretty decent. Once inside, you wouldn't want to leave. The place is so refreshing and the view is great because it is facing Paoay lake. The place also brings you back in time because of the old pieces of furnitures and pictures/photos (of great leaders who have visited the country or have met the first family) found inside.

“Well worth visiting when in Illocos!”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

Malacañang of the North or Malacanang ti Amianan as its known in Ilocano is located in the town of Paoay and on the "Must See" list when visiting the northern province of Ilocos Norte. Its design is typical Illonocano.

This property is located on 5-hectares with fantastic views of Paoay Lake, and was the residence of late president Ferdinand Marcos and his family when they were in the north. Visitors to this home included both local and foreign guests .

After Marcos death the palace transformed into a museum of the late president’s memorabilia. I enjoyed walking through this place and one can have some sort of idea of the opulant lifestyle experienced by President Marcos.

The property is now under the care of the Department of Tourism with an entrance fee of 20 pesos for adults and 10 pesos for children. It is open from 9am-11:30am and 1pm-4:30pm daily except on Mondays.

“Show of power and lavishess...”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

No one should miss this place when you are in Ilocos Norte. It is a reminder of a regime that ruled the Philippines with an iron fist. I was already in Ilocos, so I decided to see the place. And again, riding a motorbike, off I went to Paoay on a cold early morning breeze. The palace or was it a big big house was maintained. Not really that well maintained but the inside was clean. It was made mostly of wood, cut from narra trees. What do you expect, you are in power, you can do anything. Hallways, rooms and dining area are huge. The view on the veranda facing Paoay lake was good. Serene and beautiful. For me, building such a placecis a waste of money. At least there is a reminder of how the Marcos regime ruled during their time..
