The four of us enjoyed everything about the property and the dining. This was our first visit to Long Island and we left with great memories and photos. Thanks to all.

Our group of 6 rented one of the homes (Rainbow House) for 3 nights. Each has their own bed/bath. There was an infinity pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The grounds were well kept as well as the house. The resort has a good restaurant and a separate bar near the Ocean as well as one with the restaurant. The staff was very cordial and friendly. A good time was had by all.

We stayed at Stella Maris Resort several times, each time in a different bungalow. This trip we went with 1 other couple and stayed in Rainbow House - it was great! The house had 3 completely separate guest suites, making it totally private for all of us. The rooms were spacious and airy, the great room was exactly that! Though in need of updating (all the houses are privately owned) it was very comfortable, and could indeed be a 5-star property with a little TLC. It was very clean and well-maintained though, and we LOVED the ginormous infinity pool overlooking the ocean - the views are spectacular!
We came in our own Piaggio and the staff couldn't be more pilot friendly, since Joel is one himself. (Check out his Piper Chieftan and the Aero Commander!) Karen, Jill, Peter, Joel all took very good care of us and the chef even cooked the fish we caught when we went deep sea fishing! Every night we looked forward to a delicious dinner and were never disappointed. Favs: Bahamian conch chowder, crab, mahi, and peas & rice.
A few steps away is the private beach, the beach bar (casual lunch and great tropical drinks there too), the resort fresh water swimming pool, and the fitness center. And be sure to take the nature trail and a dip in the natural ocean pool carved out from the rocks. Awesome!
Don't expect the Ritz - you're in the out-islands after all. But a stay at Stella Maris is a joyful experience you won't want to miss!

We really loved this place. Everyone (staff, management and guests) were all very nice and a pleasure to meet. We stayed in a one-bedroom bungalow that was very comfortable, had lots of space and was well-maintained. A wide variety of beaches and activities are available. The food is excellent and always included a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables (which isn't always the case in Bahamian restaurants). As everything is charged to the room, often without us seeing the bill, and there were some buffets, I was nervous as to what the final bill would be. Was pleasantly surprised to see that they did not take advantage of this and in many cases, where our small children would just have one or two small items, they did not charge for the kids' meals. We will definitely be back.

This is our 23rd year at the resort doing deep sea fishing. The service, food and care taken by the hotel staff is always outstanding as is the fishing. Joel, Jill, Bruno and everyone on the staff wants to make each day each activity work for the guest. Of course nothing always works perfectly as equipment fails etc, but the staff works to improvise and solve the problem with the tools they have. Remember you are in the middle of no where.

Room Tip: Bring what you need for casual travel. No dress up here.

We were three couples who flew our small private planes to the Stella Maris airport for a short "after sailboat charter" getaway. The staff at Stella Maris are top notch! They are listening on the airport radio frequency and sent a taxi to meet us. Upon arrival at the Rainbow house, we were more than pleased. The house is really as nice as the photos online! The pool level "suite" is huge! The bathroom in that suite is not quite as nice as the other two, but still very nice. The house is perfect for 3 couples. Split between the three couples, the rate was quite reasonable for such a nice place. The kitchen was well appointed.

I'd like to give a personal shout-out to a couple of people we met. There are other staff that were extremely helpful - but I'm not great with names. Everyone on the staff seemed to know who we were without us even introducing ourselves! First - Wenzel the gardener/handyman was a pleasure to meet. He helped us several times with small items. The frontdesk ladies were also so sweet. We met the very personable chef, Bruno - and ended up taking him up in our airplanes for a couple of short flights! Some of our best meals of the trip were at the main restaurant. And on our next-to-last day we took a SCUBA trip with Capt'n Robert and Chris. Again, I can't say enough good things about them - they were a pleasure to deal with and dive with! A wonderful Out-Island experience!

Thank you for sharing your photos! Rainbow house is wonderful, perfect for 3 couples. It's been the backdrop of several photo shoots with it's infinity pool and beautiful ocean view. Our 2 and 4 bedroom bungalows are favorites for family and friends getaways.
We've shared your compliments and all our staff appreciates them very much.
With Sunny regards from Robert, Bruno, and all of us!

Wife and I just returned from a great eight day trip to Long Island and the Stella Maris Resort. This was my second trip, having visited three years ago on a short fishing trip with a buddy.

I fished five days with the resident bone-fshing guide -- James "Docky" Smith. We boated an average of five fish per day most in the 3-4 lb range. I could easily have doubled or tripled that count but for being very rusty at bone fishing: a three year hiatus is too long! Docky is, however, a great guide and a good teacher.

The resort is a collection of cottages with varying room types, as well as several buildings with blocks of single level conventional motel rooms. We stayed in the two bedroom SandDollar cottage, which also had an open plan living room /kitchen. two baths and a great screened proch at the front, from which we could see the ocean. The resort is on the Atlantic side, although at the top of the hill both oceans can be seen. Happily, the resort is relatively compact, so you don't have to walk too far to get about.

There are three swimming pools for general use (a few of the cottages have their own private pool). The largest of these is also at the ocean. The Atlantic side is quite rocky, but there is a sand beach there, as well as a "nature pool" (partially man-made). There is a bar/restaurant open from 11-7. A second smaller pool is at the main restaurant/bar facility.

At the main facility, there is a large bar with a tremendous stock of liquors and a restaurant which seats approximately seventy-five. Three meals a day are served. The breakfast is made to order; the lunch menu is what you would expect. The dinner menu has about twenty entree items, and each night there is a special menu with a couple of entree choices. We took the MAP meal plan, which was a good value. The wine list has about fifty choices, mostly Californian.

The resort is very clean and neat. The rooms are not luxurious, however, and the decor is best described as 60's beach. But, hey, that is back in style. The clientele is older and there are a good many German visitors, as the resort is owned by a German family.

The best aspect of the resort, however, is the staff. There is no attitude and the German owners have apparently done a great job of both training and retention.

I highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting again.

We greatly appreciate it when our guests take the time to share their observations on our facilities and service.
Docky is a wonderful guide. His pleasure in sharing his bonefishing skills with fellow anglers makes for a great fishing experience. He thanks you for your compliments, and encourages you to come back again soon to keep your newly honed skills sharp!
And our thanks to you for your praise of our hotel and staff. Each of us feels a personal commitment to make our guests feel as though Stella Maris is their 'Island home'.
We hope to see you again soon.
Sunny regards,
