“The Most Pristine Place in the Bahamas”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

If you are staying on Long Island, you can take a charter to Conception or sail there yourself. However you get there be prepared to bring all you will need as this is a deserted island with no services and plenty of wildlife, diving, snorkeling, exploring and just plain enjoying place you'll find. Conception is a Land and Sea Park and part of The Bahamas National Trust Park system. So, no fishing or taking of conch is allowed. There are ruins to be explored and turtles, rays and sharks in the creek. The turtles are being tagged and are part of the University of Florida Research project. Enjoy and go back there as much as you: there is lots to do and nothing to do!

“Awesome wall dives!”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

This hard to reach little island in the Bahamas is worth the effort to reach. The vis have been very clear every time i've visited and the coral reefs are in great shape. If you like wall diving this is among the best you will find in the Bahamas.

We visited Conception Island on our second to last day before leaving. After a long sail to get there, we arrived and hit the water. The children snorkeled all day! The reefs were stunning and we saw some of the most diverse and healthy marine life. There was the biggest lobster I had ever seen, a nurse shark, a huge manta ray and many many fish. The kids spent hours explorer the mangrove forests and finally made it to the island's center just before dinner. It was like a scene from a movie. There was navy blue water in lots of pools which filled with sea turtles as the tides changed. The sun shone brightly and there was almost no trace of human influence. At night, despite the large motor boat that left all of its lights on next to us, there were still so many stars that the sky looked like it was made of stars and the blackness was the minority. Definitely visit Conception Island.
