“Outstanding!”
Reviewed May 23, 2012

I've never had such a positive experience from any other dive/snorkeling companies. The underwater pictures are absolutely great!! Loved seeing those. I hate that I don't have a camera/housing to take diving with me so it was really nice to be able to get photos from the trip. The dive staff and Shane are fantastic! You really can't find better staff or service. I highly recommend Valentine's!!

“Professional and friendly staff and a great diving experience”
Reviewed May 7, 2012

I came to Harbour Island with a big wedding party for a week's holiday and R&R. The group I was booking for ranged from beginners to very experienced divers - all looking for a fun dive and to see some of the marine life of the Bahamas.

George and his staff were extremely accommodating and could not have been more friendly. They were happy to work around our needs as a group and ready to suggest alternative options for dives that might have been outside of the comfort zone of some of the less experienced divers. Their setup was professional and slick, taking care of kit both on and off the boat, helping set up, etc.

Underwater they led two great dives (not their fault we missed seeing a set of reef sharks by a matter of minutes/meters!) and were very attentive, without being pushy or overbearing. They took some great pictures, and after the dive emailed them to us free of charge as a memento of the day.

Other than the elusive sharks, I couldn't have asked for more!

Thank you to George and Shane for a wonderful dive experience during our recent trip to Harbour Island. The training certification courses were excellent and the underwater photos you offered are suburb. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

“New dive shop owners doing a great job”
Reviewed April 25, 2012

My wife and I dove with Valentines last week during our week stay on Eleuthera. We were staying in Governor's Harbor, mid-Island, renting a house with two other families and lots of kids! The focus of this vacation wasn't all about diving, but we were in the islands and wanted to do at least a day or two of diving, so we packed the gear, and did some research on where to go. Mid-week, we rented a couple tanks from another operator mid-island and did a few shore dives at Twin Coves. Glad we did it, but lots of lugging of gear up and down the beach, hauling tanks in and out of trunks, etc. One of our days on the island we planned to go to Harbour Island, and were flexible on what day, which was fortunate. The wind was blowing on the day we planned, so diving was postponed a day. I called the shop the day prior to confirm, and spoke with Shane the dive master. Shane was polite, friendly, and professional. A storm had been blowing through, so the surf was high and not making for a good dive day. I kept in touch with Shane the next day (the shop gave me his cell number), and we confirmed for the following day. The drive up from Governor's Harbor was about an hour, and then got a quick water taxi across to the Valentines dock. There were Valentines dive shop employees on the taxi, and they helped us out right away and took our dive bags to the boat. The dive shop is right there on a beautiful pier, with a nice restaurant and bar overlooking the water. We had a nice chat with George and Dawn, two of the new owners, and got all of our paperwork filled out. Procedure on the boat was by the book and well done. Shane got everyone's attention for a briefing before we left the dock. There were several staff on board to help us, first aid and oxygen available, water in the cooler, etc. Once at the site, Shane again gave us a pre-dive briefing, ran through the hand signals, explained the site, depth, etc. and let us know he would be asking us throughout the dive regarding how much air we had left, etc. There was a listing of all the divers on board, which we needed to initial prior to getting into the water, and then again once we got back on the boat (no divers left behind!). The staff gave us a choice of suiting up ourselves and walking to the back of the boat, or we could get to the back ourselves and they would bring our bc's and tanks to us and help us put them on while we sat on the back of the boat (see the picture attached). That was a nice service which we took advantage of happily! Our deep dive was 115ft to a coral arch on the bottom, and our shallow dive was to Sea Gardens, where we played with some grouper and watched a barracuda slink by. All went well, staff was there to grab fins and help us back on board. Boat had a nice big tank of freshwater available to rinse all our gear, so I took care of that on the way back in to the dock. Interval between dives was just right; not rushed, but not leaving us out there bobbing around in a boat too long. Once back on shore, our friends had driven up with all the kids to meet us. We had some beers, burgers, conch fritters, etc at the restaurant on the dock (very nice, open air on the sides, covered) and watched the yachts come in and out. One terrific feature of that dock was a nice shower in the restrooms! We showered up and got the salt off of us and then were ready to hit the rest of the island! We rented golf carts, stopped at a number of shops, and then hit the pink sand beach for body surfing and sunning. All in all, a great day. All the folks we met at Valentines diving were friendly, competent and professional; George, Dawn, Hilly, Sidney. The pace was just right, and George was great taking pictures which he emailed to me the same day!
