“Great staycation!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012

A very last-minute decision took me and my daughter to stay at the Atlantis for the weekend - definitely a good decision. The rooms are lovely - large and airy, with comfortable beds and fantastic breezes and ocean views. We slept with the sound of the Atlantic ocean crashing onto the waves below... perfect relaxation!

The staff were lovely - very helpful and friendly at all times. Despite a couple of hiccups (no hot water - possibly because it was quite a rainy/overcast weekend; and a dinner waitress who insisted there was no kid's menu at dinner-time, nor the possibility of ordering a half-portion, which meant I had to order a full adult meal for my daughter and then discovered on paying for the meal that this was not true!), we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back - I wish I could say 'regularly' but it is a little on the pricey side, so probably no more than once a year.

The setting is unbelievable and you really feel like you have travelled far, far from home. Highly recommended weekend break for residents! I would have scored everything as "Excellent" but the dinner waitress experience knocked the service down 1 notch, ditto the price. I wasn't aware of any kids' activities nor fitness centre so didn't mark those - but there is a lovely pool and endless walks to be had along the cliffs and the beach looking for pebbles, so I don't think these particular items were missed!

Room Tip: Rooms fronting onto the Atlantic are incredible - can't speak for those which don't have thi...

We can't say enough about the Atlantis, and would be returning this year if we weren't expecting. we will definitely be back as soon as possible. This place is 5 star but with a laid back vibe. The staff is professional and courteous, and the rooms, location, and view are truly amazing. Our room had a balcony with french doors that opened to the air and the surf. It was beyond romantic, but also made for a great destination for surfing and seeing the island.

Room Tip: Probably any room - I don't think you can go wrong here

We never had time for a honeymoon but while visiting our daughter in Barbados we slipped away for 3 days. We had never imagined our short 3 day stay would be so happy. The staff were thoughtful and kind and the ambiance of the Atlantis was so peaceful and unhurried we were able to walk, sight see and enjoy the most beautiful room with the waves breaking below the window. Meals were fantastic and served on the terrace overlooking the small beach below.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the sea is always special

Everyone knows Barbados is the friendliest island on the planet and this, I guess must be the friendliest hotel on the island. Imagine what it was like for us Londoners to spend a few days there. It was like being in heaven. We stayed in the upper cottage by the pool with it's amazing sundeck perched on the edge of the sea where I'd watch the sunrise each morning. The kids surfed and explored and couldn't have been happier. The staff are amazing. Really lovely people. We'd planned on self-catering yet we only managed to cook one meal. The kitchen was more than adequate, but their restaurant is incredible so we eat there at every opportunity.

We had a wonderful stay at the Atlantis in December. Andrew and his team could not have been more helpful. We felt like we were one of the family by the end of our ten days there! The rooms are large, elegant and spotless and the hotel food is excellent.

To note -- it was our first time in Barbados, so we hadn't realised the different character of the East coast: it's much less developed (which we loved) partially because you can't swim in the sea at most beaches (with the exception of the aptly named Bath beach). For us this just meant we drove around exploring the island, mainly following Andrew's very helpful guidance. It's probably around 25 minutes drive to the the West Coast or to Crane Beach.

We look forward to our next visit to the Atlantis!

Room Tip: Choose either a room with stunning ocean view (and ocean soundtrack) or a larger room with views to...

My husband and I live on the island and have come to the Atlantis on a "staycation" to celebrate our anniversary for the last 2 years. Last year, we had booked for 2 days and wanted to stay longer so this year we did--3 wonderful days in Capernum Upper, an upstairs cottage next to the sea, the pool, and a few steps from the dining area. There was rain one day so we were really lazy and ordered room service. The staff (from the owner and management to the cleaning staff)are courteous, friendly, accommodating and pleasant . We could not have been better pleased.

Room Tip: Capernum Upper is the best!!!! A large cottage with 2 bedrooms, a living-dining-kitchen suite and a...

We stayed for 3 nights and we felt so very welcome by the friendly staff. Diana welcomed us very warmly and made time to see us everyday. The rooms are all large with fantastic views of the Atlantic ocean. We had the one named 'soup bowl' :) we will def be visiting again, even if it's just to have their tasty food.
