Loch Ness Backpackers

Staff is really friendly, they really make an effort to make you feel like in home. The hostel has a lot of facilities: laundry, bar (good advantage!!), games, books...Free milk, coffee and tea included. It is cleaned every day (we saw it). Beds are confy, shared rooms are not very spacious but enough and they are outside of the main building. Location is fine, close to a supermarket, to the loch ness, to invernes, to glen affric... The only point is that the kitchen is nor very big and that the electric cooker is not very powerfull. We also got a bit discusted because a homeless booked into our room, but we didn't have any problem with him.

Two night stay with friends for hillwalking in Glen Affric. Warm welcome and comfortable bunks. We arranged a 3-course meal for 10 ahead of the trip (4 were not staying at the hostel) and were well and truly fed by Wendy - excellent homemade food after a day out in the hills. I'd recommend this arrangement if you have time to plan ahead for a group. I reckon we'll be back!

Room Tip: Book well ahead

Stayed here on a long cycle trip. The open fire, friendly staff, laundry service, bar and sticky toffee pudding made you feel very much at home. Lots of communal space.

I just spent 1 night here on Sunday 8th May with 3 other people as part of a long distance charity walk.We found the hostel clean, tidy, good showers and good kitchen facilities.
The staff were friendly, helpful and when we politely asked, were happy to let a few other members of our party into the bar area (who were staying in various places in Drumnadrochit) to enable us all to get together for a drink and a takeaway meal.
Its perhaps not easy to judge a place on just one night and a few hours spent there but we cant have any complaints about our visit. I would return if if the area and needed accommodation.

A party of 7 of us stayed for one night. This is an excellent little Hostel with an incredibly warm and friendly atmosphere. We were welcomed by Wendy who couldn't do enough throughout our stay to make sure our bellies were full and our thirst quenched (she even offered to provide a bucket of warm water and some foot salts for one of our weary travellers who's foot resembled a blind cobblers thumb. In the recreation room perfectly placed was a little bar selling ice cold beer and magners on draught at a very very reasonable price along with a selection of delicious pizzas..The facilities where very good, whether you wanted to chill and read a book or have a go on the karaoke Loch Ness catered for everyone. The bath/shower room and kitchen were immaculate, and outside seating area was good for chilling out along with a sitting area inside to relax on some big comfy chairs.
All in all this a hostel that is terrific value for money, with excellent facilities and a host who genuinely cares about the backpackers who come to stay be it for 1 night or longer.
We'll certainly be back.

Stayed at the owners B&B and visited the hostel. Found the owners friendly and we enjoyed the service at the bar. There was pizza available and karaoke in the common room. We had a great time.

Not long back from a brilliant night at the Lochness Backpackers in Drumnadochit. Read some of the old reviews...there have either been some major improvements or one reviewer must have been so drunk at hogmanay they got confused about which hostel they were staying at!!! The place was absolutely spotless, beds clearly changed every day, and really comfy mattresses. Best of all was the really warm welcome we received from Wendy and Neil who advised us about what to see in the local area. Really great place and kind, caring people. The Lochness backpackers is such a retreat from the rat race and we'll be back.
