“A haven of tranquility”
Reviewed April 15, 2013 via mobile

A lovely quiet and peaceful gardens surrounded by woodland.

A great place to go for a quiet walk or even to read a book on a nice warm day.

Well worth a visit.

“Peace and Quiet”
Reviewed April 14, 2013 via mobile

This NTS garden on the south side of Glasgow is a lovely peaceful quiet spot. The gardens are really well looked after and offer a range of secluded areas around each corner. There is a nice coffee shop and you can buy a range of plants in the courtyard. The car park is not very big and can fill up on a Sunday afternoon.

“Walled garden for the prosperous of old.”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

NTS gardens. fairly small but well cultivated and great for an afternoon stroll and a look at the mansion house - not open to visitors.

Food is limited to soup and roll or sandwich. great coffee and scones. Small shop.

Not a place for a whole-day visit but very pleasant and peaceful.

“Small and lovely on the city's edge - 15/20mins from The Burrell”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

This is a glorious small National Trust garden surrounded by woodland and fields on the edge of Glasgow's very attractive southside suburbs - a 30min trip by car from the city centre.Public transport wouldn't be so handy though is possible. In August, the herbaceous borders and maze-like planted areas were just stunning.Beautifully kept.Nice walks through the woodland outwith the garden.A great place to let kids run free for a while. There is a small, friendly Visitor Centre which does homemade soup and tea/coffee and a tiny shop. There are also nice plants for sale.
I'd recommend it if you have an hour or so to spare for the sheer peace and loveliness of the place. If you want a bit more choice re eating, I'd recommend Eat deli in nearby Clarkston,5mins by car.You can also bring your own picnic as there are quite a lot of small seating areas throughout the gardens.
