I stayed at the Egg for my wedding anniversary, after getting married at one of their sister hotels ( the Garfield) 2 years ago. I have to say that this hotel is just as good.

From the moment we walked in to check in we were met with a warm smile from the lady behind the desk, she promptly checked us in and explained the times etc for breakfast, she then confirmed that our table was booked and if we were happy with the time.

The honeymoon suite is to die for, anyone looking for a room with a difference should book this. The room is set over 2 floors, the first being your wardrobe etc, you then step down to your bedroom where there in a open plan looking into the bathroom and double shower, very elegant indeed.

During the stay all staff were superb, the food was excellent, I would highly recommend the mussels followed by the steak. Food is also very reasonably priced.

I could go on forever about how good this hotel is, but instead I would say go and find out for yourself, you won’t be left disappointed.

Looking forward to my next visit

We stayed at Eglington Arms hotel for a long weekend recently. The hotel is very clean and modern. The bedrooms are quite small. I think there were larger ones but as there were weddings on all over the weekend I think they were reserved for those guests. The staff are very helpful and will print bus/train timetables off for you. Food is good, plenty to choose from. My partner likes things well cooked for breakfast and they accommodated his request. We had dinner in the hotel one night and there was a good selection. The steak pie was lovely. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel which takes you into Glasgow in about 50 minutes. The village itself is lovely and great for country walks.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
The room has superb comfort, the service is quality and the meals are excellent value for money.
I have stayed in quite a few Glasgow area hotels at all varients of cost and have to say that this is the best for value by far. It knocks the socks of the more expensive 4* rated hotels who charge way too much for their average comfort . Well done to the Best Western and Eglington Arms staff who would make any hotel proud to have you on board.

Stayed at the Eg on 20 August for a wedding being held within the hotel. The wedding service was scheduled for 2.00p.m. and we were able to check in from 1.00 p.m. which gave us a chance to relax and get organised.

The hotel has fairly recently undergone huge refurbishment and looks fabulous throughout.

The room layout for the wedding service was very elegant and was coordinated to tie in with the wedding colour scheme. After the service the room was quickly transformed into a dining room for the wedding meal. The food and service for this was very good.

The bedroom we stayed in (Room 24) had no traditional window, but rather four windows in the roof apex - this flooded the room with natural light and would have been great to star gaze on a clear night - pity for us it was so cloudy.

The level of cleanliness was excellent and we had a lovely big bathroom with huge shower. The room is very tastefully decorated with very comfy bedding, and cushions for relaxing, with modern wall mounted flat screen TV.

Breakfast next morning consisted of usual cereal and fresh fruit and juice selection and hot food was cooked to order and served by very friendly staff - in fact every single staff member went out of their way to acknowledge guests.

All in all a great wee find and would thoroughly recommend the hotel. The official rating is 3 star and I have to admit to having stayed in many four star hotels which were not a patch on the Eg.

Room Tip: Cant imagine there would be a bad room in this lovely wee hotel.

We stayed here from Friday 22 July to Sunday 24 July for a wedding reception.

The room was fine and the meal for the wedding reception was very enjoyable.

What we liked most was that the service was personal and friendly. I think this may have been because the hotel was a few miles out from Glasgow city centre.

I realise many people would prefer to take there car,but we got the bus into Glasgow from right outside the hotel. It took about 45 minutes, but we were not in a hurry so it was convenient. It also meant that we could have a glass of wine in our travels around Glasgow!

Stayed here for one night in July 2011 as we were guests at a wedding reception ebing held in the hotel. Check-in was good, and we were given our room keycard quickly (was only offered one card, so had to ask for another). We were alocated room 1, which was decorated nicely, but was a bit compact! Only real complaints would be that the bed was only a standard double, and also in relation to the bathroom. The shower wasn't the best, and was difficult to control the temperature. Also one of the light fittings in the shower fell out while I was in the shower!
We had the full breakfast, and it was good.
The drinks in the bar were reasonably priced, and parking at the hotel was good. Overall I'd recommend the hotel to friends.
