My husband and I stay in this hotel at least twice a year - we love it! We used to live in the village and we have to stop ourselves staying here every holiday. The staff are exceptional, the hotel manager is constantly in evidence, the food fantastic (especially the breakfast) and the general ambience of the hotel is comfortable country house.
Dirleton itself is an historic village with 16th century castle open to the publlic, there are many walks from the village - many to the beaches of Yellowcraig and Gullane.
North Berwick is the nearest town, again with lovely beaches and fanatastic golf courses.
There is also a station at North Berwick and nearby Drem with frequent trains into Edinburgh.
The hotel has recently had 4 garden rooms added and a function room ( it is and always has been a popular location for weddings). The garden rooms have patio access to a small garden with garden furniture for each room. There is also a small inner courtyard with tables and chairs for the use of other guests.
Everything price wise is very reasonable. The bistro restaurant has a delightful menu with early bird options and the Library ( the high spend alternative) often has special deals.
The main room, often ablaze with a huge log fire is very relaxing. There are papers to read for those without books ( although there are books to borrow) and ... Im going to stop my review now as I think we may never be able to get a room again!!!
