“Fabulous!”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Just arrived home after a truly fabulous 2 night stay in this wonderful hotel. We paid extra to have the Garden Suite, and it was worth every penny. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the food was awesome. A very relaxing time was had by my husband, myself and our 2 dogs. Will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: The Garden Suite has a bedroom, bathroom, conservatory, private garden and parking space. Very quiet...

Stayed two nights, 24th to 26th March. Hotel is very comfortable and I have no hesitation in recommending it. Although quite cold outside the room was warm with log fires in the lounge and dining rooms. We were upgraded at no extra charge to a superior room. Dogs are made very welcome and are treated as well as people (if not better).

Note. Location is about 12 north of Dumfries. Dumfries still has free parking provided you show a disc showing your arrival time. This seems to give 2 hours free parking and there are a lot of parking areas to choose from. Discs are freely available from some shops, tourist information & police station.

Last week was our second visit to the Trigony This time to celebrate my 60th birthday. Both visits were in winter, last week was freezing cold with heavy snow. The welcome was friendly and warm. The log fires in all reception rooms made it feel cosy and homely. We booked room 8 which was a superior room and It was lovely. The bed was comfortable and we had a large en-suite with bath and shower. Our friends were given room 6 and although smaller it too was a really nice room. The food was delicious and the service very good. Altogether a friendly family run hotel which we were sad to leave. We will return.

Room Tip: Rooms 3,6. & 8 lovely. Room 9 was above the kitchen.

We stayed at this hotel in March for one night on the way to the Lake District
We had two rooms one was for my parents the garden suite and the other was our room upstairs
Both were very cosy and comfortable notwithstanding the freezing cold with snow outside
We also had a wee toy poodle with us who was made very welcome
The lounge was lovely, cosy and informal, with delightfully friendly guests who we chatted to in the lovely comfortable setting whilst enjoying pre dinner drinks.
The decor seemed very fresh and even though it was an old building it had been beautifully and tastefully restored
The welcome was warm and humorous
The highlight though was the food!
Truly exceptional !
My husband and I dine out a lot and would be more adventurous, but my parents are more conservative, yet we all managed to get something on the menu we enjoyed. In what is a relatively small hotel this standard was exceptional
At the end of our stay on the way home from the Lake District we got caught in heavy snow and had to stay in the Turnberry hotel . The food and accomodation in the Turnberry was more than twice the price of trigony but we all agreed that Trigony had been by far the better place to stay with its warm friendly atmosphere .

The food and service in Trigony was also far superior to that in Turnberry .

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel particularly if travelling with a dog
And hope to stay again ourselves in the near future

You won't be disappointed if you decide to stay at Trigony House. We received a warm welcome, our room was extremely comfortable and the food was top notch. It was great to find such a high quality hotel where our dog was genuinely welcome too. We would definitely visit again.

The hotel is set well back from the A76 about 14 miles north of Dumfries. It is in a quiet and lovely rural setting. It is family owned. The family give you a great welcome and attention during your visit.

The food is very good indeed and you get a good helping of it. You will not starve. There is a good choice also which would meet most tastes. There is also a well stocked bar with seating and a fire to one side of the restaurant and a snug/lounge at the other side.

The public areas are all pannelled in light wood which blends in well with the buildings design.

The bedroom we had was a superior room. It had a comfy large bed, a two seater setee, a dressing table, wardrobe, tv, coofee/tea etc. The bathroom was modern and nice with lots of hot water and a really good shower.

There seems to be a lot to do in the area. We will be back later this year. A nice place for a break.

We stayed here for two nights and we had a lovely time, as did the dog who was made so welcome by the staff I thought she might not come home with us! She was particularly impressed with the dog welcome pack. We were impressed by the excellent food and ambiance and a genuine easy going friendly welcome. The rooms (and especially the beds) are very comfortable. Although the weather was cold and snowy outside we were tucked up and cosy in our room. Having ventured out for what turned out to be a very muddy walk round the Drumlanrig estate, the staff were on hand with buckets of hot water dog shampoo and towels for Meg's muddy paws which made life so much easier. We would certainly recommend Trigony House to dog owners but whether you have a dog or not the welcome is exceptional.
