“Perfectly awesome”

This remote farm cottage is a perfect getaway for those who want to get away from it all. Surrounded by farmland, amazing scenery, farm life and wildlife. The 3 bed cottage has log burner fire, conservatory, well equipped kitchen(with home baking and home made jam from Helen) and a breakfast bar with views over the fields. Bedrooms are 1 dble 1 twin and 1 single, all perfectly adequate with morning views to die for. Plenty parking for 2/3 cars large enclosed garden and dogs welcome.
There are unlimited walks on the farm as easy or hard as you like. There is a private Lochan for fishing. There are fish in it as we seen them jumping, but none seemed to like our bait. Remember to take some carrots on your walk, for the horses, Daisy and Dobbin.
Galloway is a hidden gem in Scotland. Beautiful beaches, lots of history, lighthouses, great drives and walks
Mobile phone (Tesco) was a good signal. No wifi in cottage(although you can get limited and slow wifi on your phone, if you REALLY need too) TV reception is poor but, that adds to the feeling of remoteness, and even the kids didn't notice as they were so busy out exploring, fishing, walking.

The nearest town is about 7 miles away with supermarkets and other amenities, but we discovered to our surprise that Asda do deliveries to the cottage so we did an online order before we left home - brilliant, convenient and left us more time to enjoy ourselves rather than having spend time grocery shopping!

Thoroughly recommend Mark Cottage and Pibble Cottage where we have also stayed before. Kids already asking for us to book up for next year.

An excellent get away from it all experience. The location of Mark Cottage is stunning, rolling hills and stands of trees. Ideally placed for travel to Castle Douglas, Newton Stewart, or Wigtown. The cottage was ideal for myself, my wife and our dog, with open fire and enclosed garden.

Just back from a lovely week at Mark Cottage
This place has everything you could wish for. We had a total relax in the sunshine then cosy evenings in front of the log fire.
The views are spectacular and the cottage is close to lots of places to visit.

It's a definite place to return to, We will for sure.

Thanks to Helen and Ashley for making us welcome and keeping us supplied with logs for our fire.

Best cottage holidays ever , have been back 7 times in the last 6 years (2 at Mark cottage the rest at Pibble )
On this hol we stayed at Mark Cottage and found to our delight the open log fire was still there ,garden was well kept and secure for our dog (who just loved it there) . Nice and cozy at night and beautiful sun lounge for the daytime . Best weather ever for September NO RAIN at all clear skies had a full moon so dark sky was limited but been there when no moon before and the stars are unreal just so many of them to see.
as the kitchen is fully fitted didnt even take home dirty washing cos we did it there .
Hoping to be back up twice in 2015 and cant wait

Thanks to Helen and Ash for yet another wonderful holiday

“Excellent! Tranquil, relaxing and the most beautiful scenery.”

I found this gem by accident and was fortunate to get such a quick booking! The owners are a lovely couple who couldn't have done more for us. The property was just what I was looking for - to ultimately relax in the beautiful Dumfries & Galloway countryside.

I will certainly be back at the earliest opportunity.
