My husband and I stayed at Castle Cary for the weekend and ate in the Lairds inn both evenings. A warm welcome, fantastic menu and fresh produce. My husbands says the smoked Mackerel pate was to die for. It is made fresh in the kitchen. we also had soup, fish and fillet steak and could not fault a thing. we will return to Castle Cary because the Lairds inn made our weekend.

We often eat and drink here as we have a static caravan on the adjoining site. The staff and atmoshere are very welcoming and the food is excellent. There is a large outside seating area and on a summers day you can sit outside, admire the view over Wigtown bay and enjoy a meal or drink.

Don't be put off by the adjoining ruin. The restaurant is warm and comfortable, the staff pleasant and helpful and the food delicious.

We visit this area regularly but only came across this place through a booklet for Galloway food fortnight. The inn is tucked away behind a holiday park so not the ideal location to attract passing trade but it is truly worth a visit. The welcome was warm and the food superb. In addition to the regular menu there were specials of regional produce such as the beautiful Solway Salmon we both enjoyed.
As with many pubs and inns in this area the decor is dated but the menu was most defintely up to date in its content and presentation. The prices are very reasonable too. Our three course meal for two including winw came to under £60.00. We woulkd definitely visit again.
