“A Great Experience! ”
Reviewed July 31, 2014 via mobile

We have visited this wonderful museum several times over the past few years. This time it was with our young grandson and family who were over from the USA.
They all found it really fascinating and really enjoyed talking to Tim Stephenson about his collection.

It is excellent value for money at £5 per adult - I have no idea why GrayMan2 would state it was double this figure ('Rip Off' dated 10 July 2014) as the entrance fee has always been very reasonable.

We look forward to our next visit soon.

“One of the better Museums I have visited!!!!”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

I had the pleasure of stopping by the Gem and rock museum in the winter of last year (2013). It is located in a small but super friendly Scottish town. Being a adventurous but curious traveler, I have visited some really great Museums in several different countries (most notably Washington DC). So whenever there is a chance to learn and experience something new, im happy to try it. And Im glad i did !!!

Firstly, i will say its a very nice family run place. Tim(the owner) was very nice and knoledgable . he patiently and enthusiastically answered any questions asked. The museum was bigger than i was expecticting with lots of cool items ( including a dino egg:). They were many crystals, stones, gems and things I always thought looked pretty but knew nothing about.

They also have a gift shop that had lots of fun things. i got a beautiful pair of amythest earrings for my mother. It also semed to have a lot of childrens activities and games in the museum . one was where you stuc your hand in a box and figure out the stone/object by touch( yes i tried it and am not ahamed lol). There is also a cafeteria i did not get a chance to try but looked like it had an array of food and drinks.

All in all , I can say i really enjoyed my experience. It was a welcome stop off in my scottish vacation.

“fascinating”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

Normal entrance was £5 each but the day we went it had a 10% discount... I have and interest in gems, diamonds are a girls best friend ! Staff at door was lovely and welcoming. Lots and Lots of great displays of every type of gem mineral rock agate you could imagine the colours and variety were fantastic very aesthetically pleasing. Displays are clearly marked and categorised. You could tell it was a family run concern and lovely that they had chosen to share there collection with the members of the public.. A workshop where jewellery was made was fascinating to and educational.. A large shop where you could buy some of the handmade items made in the workshop was nice. Would definitely recommend on a sunny rainy day.
