“Good family lunch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013 via mobile

Fish and chips, sausage and mash, risotto and crab open sandwich all went down a treat for 9 of us for a midweek family lunch. The fish was enormous and we had no room for the lovely looking desserts!

“Hand cut chips the best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

Whilst we were in Cornwall for Easter we meet up with the wife's family on Easter Monday and went to the Victoria Inn for lunch.

There were seven of us for lunch 6 adults and one toddler, the restaurant were fine with the toddler eating his own food provided by his parents. The menu is quite varied with your typical pub food on the list.

I chose the fish and chips with hand cut chips, I never understand why more places don't do hand cut chips they are far better than the prepared frozen ones that are the fried you often get. My wife had megrim sole. My fish and chips was as good as it sounded on the menu and the chips didn't disappoint, the wife assures me that her sole was also very good.

The only one complaint was that the service was a bit slow but we were in no rush as we were catching up with the family.

“Gorgeous !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

I had heard good things about the Victoria. 9 of us went to celebrate my sisters birthday and between us we pretty much had most of the dishes, both starter and main, on the menu and yes, of course we all tried each others.

I can honestly say, all dishes were absolutely delicious. We couldnt all manage a desert but 4 of us did and how gorgeous they were too.

SO: 10/10 for starters, 10/10 for main courses, 10/10 for service and the wine was great and not expensive.

Highly recommended but be warned, you need to book!

“Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

First time here for Sunday Lunch and we weren't too disappointed. We were seated on time and our orders taken. Good selection of vegetables and the meats were tender. The waitresses were extremely busy and it was obvious they were understaffed and apparently there was some issue in the kitchen! Some people had a very long wait (1 hour) and were quite 'cheesed off'. This of course is not acceptable. We also had a bit of a wait 25 mins+ before the roast arrived. Plates and meat went cold whilst waiting for vegetables to arrive.

We decided against a pudding, had a starter instead as they seemed rather expensive. I had roast pork and did have to ask for apple sauce! The other members of my family had roast beef and said the Yorkshire puddings were soggy and not as good as expected.

We may try the Victoria Inn another time.
