“A supern stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

A great place to be after a long snowmobile day. We had a most outstanding "top chef" evening meal and the breakfast was equally perfect.
Not to forget (also) a nice choise of original belgium beer was available and Ignace was a super host. Auberge -Restaurant "Chez Ignace" is a place to recommend to your best friends.

Super rest stop on Petit Train du Nord Bike path mid week during the first week of October 2013. Food was superior. Large variety compares very well.with some of best restaurants. Ignace was a super host and had some very good Belgian beers. Beware of their dog as he is the friendliest but alas ... Because he stole my riding glove, the biggest thief in Canada. I highly recommend this superior lodging and food place.

Room Tip: All were good

We cycled the P'tit train du Nord in July. This was our first stop right on the trail. We loved it. The accommodations were nice, but the best part was the food. Ignace knows his stuff, and did a great job for my gluten-free, celiac diet. Nice little bar for a Belgian beverage after a lovely supper. Neat decorative features. I would stay here again.

This wonderful place is right on the Petit Train du Nord path. Rooms were comfortable but what was outstanding was the wonderful evening meal. Presentation and taste were great. We had 5 choices for dinner- rabbit, elk, fish, pork and chicken. Our group had 4 different dishes and all were excellent. Breakfast the next morning was equally wonderful. You will not be disappointed if you stay here.

This is a great place to rest after a day of cycling on the Petit Train du Nord. We enjoyed the hot tub and the private beach. The dinner, which was included in the price of the room, was a wonderful, unique experience. Ignace presented us with a multi-course, delicious evening meal; truly unforgettable! Breakfast was also fantastic.

Our family was cycling the 200km (125mi) bicycle path the "Petit Train du Nord", and Chez Ignace was one of our overnight stays. We expected a "normal" B&B, perhaps just average since Nominingue is a bit out of the way. The rooms were very good, but the meals were astounding!

Chez Ignace is right on the bicycle trail, about 3km (2mi) past the old train station at Nominingue. It's fairly easy to spot from the trail - on your left as you are heading south. There is a bike shed to lock up the bikes at night.

The rooms were modern, spotless, and comfortable. The bathroom fittings were new and included bath and separate shower. The beds - our room for three had a double and a single - were comfortable. The rooms are air conditioned - as most city-dwellers would expect - but possibly not so prevalent in this vacation country.

It was the meals that were the great surprise. We were on a family plan, with dinner and breakfast included, and expected a fairly normal event. Nothing could be further from the truth! The appetizer was home-smoked salmon and home-made elk pate. Delicious! That was followed by a home-made cream of wild mushroom soup, as good or better than any I've ever had. My main course was an earthy, tasty elk-and-partridge stew with fresh vegetables, followed by a Belgian chocolate mousse.

Breakfast was equally impressive. And I was delighted to find that the host overcame my personal pet peeve of many restaurants, and provided (large quantities of) strong, flavourful coffee with cream and demerara sugar.

There is a dock on the lake, and guests can take their beer or wine down there to sip. The auberge also has a hot tub out back.

We will certainly go out of our way to stay at Chez Ignace the next time we are on that trail!

My family cycled a portion of the Petit Nord with our two sons (8 and 4) and stayed at Chez Ignace in August. After a long hot day of cycling we arrived at Chez Ignace to cold belgian beer and a nice swim in the lake. Our hosts were absolutely fantastic. With our bikes put away and after a wonder swim we settled down to a fanastic dinner. Ignace even tailored a meal for our four year old. Dessert was enjoyed on the patio with the boys being entertained by Patoo (sp?) the dog. The room was lovely and comfortable and breakfast the next morning was delicious. After breakfast we were off to Mont Tremblant. I would highly recommend this BandB. You will not be disappointed.
