Lovely, homely Galloway atmosphere with a creative menu. We didn't stay overnight but the food we had for our dinner was beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyable. Some fantastic blends of unusual flavours which suited our palette. Friendly well organised staff who rounded off an enjoyable meal. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic place! If you are looking for a traditional Scottish inn with atmosphere, good food, excellent ale and a friendly welcome then this establishment will please you. Value added items such as a real fire, old decor (some may say tired, but if it aint broke don't fix it), live music and books and local information aplenty. Could have stayed all night, but will definately return.

Had a great time there with friends to celebrate a birthday. We didn't stay overnight but enjoyed the restaurant. Really enjoyed the "Best" Steak & Ale Pie (correctly named!) & the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The service was excellent, the staff was friendly and very helpful. Nice atmosphere.

They had karaoke in the pub the night we were there. Lots of fun and good participation. Thank you for an excellent meal!

What a great wee country place. The Coachan is everything you could want from a traditional Scottish inn. Warm friendly welcome from proprietors Joanna and Stewart and the locals. This place is just where you want to be on a cold Scottish night, the coal fires and cosy surroundings make you feel the way you only imagine in books and films. We had a delicious evening meal and a stunning Scottish breakfast which made the most of the great local produce (yummy meat and haggis). You'll get a great pint, some top notch wine or a fine malt that makes your stay even better. This is an ideal base for a walking, hunting or fishing break but equally as good if you just want to get away from it all and have a great meal and good old fashioned country night out.:-) :-)

Stayed at The Clachan for three nights B&B in Feb 13. Spacious room, overlooking the quiet main street on the 1st floor. The decor is a little dated, but that didn't spoil what was part of my Christamas gift from ny wife. You really are in the middle of knowhere in a tiny Scottish village with little more than a handfull of small dwellings, a grocery store, a petrol station and a pub. Ensure you take a drive through the forestry up into the hills, and to the nearby coast.
The place is also a country pub and restaurant frequented by a mix of locals and tourists alike. The food was wholesome and plentiful albeit from from a fairly limited menu of dishes. Only one complaint, the heating went off during the night, before coming back on at about 7.00am. The nights were very cold out, so do take your PJ's!!! We asked for another quilt which was supplied.
Loved the location, loved the food.
