I highly recommend this hotel just outside Sterling and near the imposing Wallace Monument.. Apparently it was modeled on Balmoral Castle and it was great to have a stay in a castle- with all the modern conveniences. The quirky history was interesting too. (Wartime episode would make a good film??)
Staff were, as others have said, wonderful - if a little thin on the ground. This lovely place only has 10 rooms so they dont need a reception desk. If you go and there is no one inside the front door, turn left to the lounge and bar area and you'll probably meet the general manager.
Our bedroom had a sofa and coffee table and the largest kingsize bed Ive ever seen, let alone slept in. Linen, pillows and comfort very good. The bathroom was a little small compared to the enormous bedroom but managed to contain a lovely roll top bath, large walk in shower plus sink and wc. My only issue is lack of a shelf in the bathroom to put toiletry bag and no dressing table or plug socket near a mirror for hairdrying in the bedroom.
Dinner and breakfast the next morning were good and restaurant service was excellent.
Highly enjoyable one night stay- wish it had been for longer.

My mother's surprise 90th birthday party took place at Broomhall Castle on Sunday 28th July 2013. As a lass she used to deliver newspapers to the castle in the 1930s so it was an especially wonderful venue for her party Sixty people from the 'Thomson Clan' gathered to celebrate mum's birthday with a meal, speeches and an emtertainment by her very talented grandchildren and their partners. The party was a huge success with lots of tears, laughter and reminiscences about days gone by.
Many thanks to Gavin and his excellent team who helped make our day so wonderful with good food, excellent service and enormous patience with our many requests for help and support. A big thank you from all of us.

I have nothing negative to say about Broomhall Castle. Everything from the staff, the chef, the staff, the marvelous rooms with lovely views, and the crazy owners was amazing. Truly an unforgettable wedding venue. Five stars is not enough. Val K.

Room Tip: If you are getting married, the bridal suite is huge and fabulous.

Had a great two nights at the hotel! Food was at a very high standard both for breakfast and dinner. The staff is not stamped from the "cookie cutter" like the chains but exteremly helpful and friendly, the quirkiness adds to the experience. I found they went out of their way to make sure you had the best stay possible.

Room Tip: Didn't see a bad room in the place.

This was a long weekend visit to the area, and Broomhall Castle provided a very convenient location to stay, with ample space to park.
The views and local scenary are very impressive, and the building itslef has a character all its own.
The rooms I saw (3 of them) were of a high quality, very clean, spacious, and in character with the building. The T.V worked very well, but then we didn't need to use it much.
The staff are very friendly and make you feel right at home, creating a very warm atmosphere.
We ate at the hotel, and the food is very good, and great value for money, as much breakfast as you could want with high quality dinner menu, which seems to emphasise good quality local produce.
In summary, a great place to stay. Thanks.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors are further away from the bar ;-))

We've always wanted to stay in a Castle while traveling through Scotland. The castle is located in a little nice village on the top of the hill. The scienic view at night is fantastic since you can directly see the lights of Stirling Castle (about 5km away) and even more far behind get a feel of Edinborough dimensions at night. The food is brilliant and heaps. the castle itself is spacious, simple but very warm and homely. Most amazingly we found the staff (with that said, greetings to David, Scott and Dave), who made our stay unforgettable. We can only highly recommend to stay in this place, it will be an experience you'll never forget and moreover one which you don't want to miss. Cheers from Heidelberg Caroline & Dominik
