We stopped here for two nights whilst completing the Sutherland Trail.
Mandy and Lindsay made us feel very welcome, and they really went out of their way to accommodate our itinerary by picking us up from a walk end one day, and then dropping us off in the same place etc etc, and then picking us up at the end of the trail in Tongue. Lindsay was exceptionally reliable, and picked us up at the arranged times. This was so important, and made the walk possible, as it traversed countryside with no accommodation.
Thank you - much appreciated.

Mandy was a great hostess, welcoming us with a cup for tea and a 3 course home made meal for a very reasonable price, was very filling, exactly what you needed after a day on the hills!

Good filling breakfast too, and flexible on timings!

Had everything you needed, sky tv, wood burner and wifi!

To summarise, very nice and very well priced! Ideal for walkers/cyclists/fishermen.

When we arrived at Altnaharra, we were a little bit worried ... A few houses, no shop ...
But As soon I we met Mandy, we were OK ! Before having dinner, we were discussing with her, explaining that we saw a gorgeous red deer next to the road.

The dinner was delicious and generous : soup, stew, trifle, ...

Before sleeping, we played Scrabble in the loundge : obviously, vowels and consonants haven't the same value in English than in French ...

And the full Scottish breakfast, just perfect ... Bacon, eggs, haggis, baked beans, ...

You drive through beautiful scenery and come across this wonderful B&B. We were welcomed with a big smile and hello. Mandy offered us tea or coffee before showing us up to our room. The view out the window was breathtaking.
She said "don't hide out in your room, come and join us for a chat in the lounge."
For an extra 10 pounds, dinner had been offered when we booked. While we waited for two walkers, she provided us with all kinds of information about Altnaharra . There are only 17 residents. The others arrived and Mandy kindly put their boots and clothes in a drying room.

Mandy and her husband served a FABULOUS three course dinner. We passed the evening chatting with the other two guests in the lounge and then retired to our rooms around eleven to enjoy a peaceful, comfortable sleep.

A full Scottish breakfast was prepared as you like it. I can't say enough positive things about our experience. Mandy and her husband have made their B&B a "home" for travellers.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great with wonderful views of the mountains.

My son Murdo and I stayed here on the 30th September while in the area for the Lairg Tup Sales.
I cannot commend this B&B highly enough.
We availed ourselves of the optional dinner and had the most smashing parsnip soup, succulent vensinon rib steak, apple crumble followed by tea or coffee, all for £10 each!
Excellent service, friendly hosts and beautiful scenery, shame about some the landscape being left with acres of tree stumps and rotting branches after the foresters have been.
Brilliant.
