“Wonderful little cottage”
Reviewed November 13, 2017 for a stay in November 2017

Our 2nd visit and love it the same as the first time. Malcolm is very helpful and easy to get hold of if there are problems.....not that we had any. He even arranged 4 days of sun. Well done Malcolm! Super cosy and warm..even heated bathroom floor...such luxury. Lovely coastal walks....saw lots of seals and their pups. Trip to Holy Island (lovely quiet beaches at far side)and walked to Eyemouth with bus back. Enjoyed star gazing from the back patio.....even saw a couple of shooting stars. Waiting for my star wishes to come true!! Hope to be back......it's such a quiet little haven .

Thank you very much Penny, much appreciated. We try to think everything and in this case we succeeded too in providing sunshine. It doesn't always work! Malcolm and Sally

“Beautiful cottage!”

Wow! What a beautiful cottage situated in a lovely area (nice and quiet too). Lovely view of the sea out the back. I am actually typing this on my last night here (very sad about that). The cottage is very cosy, very clean (big thanks to Kerry) and has everything you need for a trip away. The garden is lovely and, although we went late October, we were still able to see some of the flowers in bloom (it must be lovely in the summer). Bedrooms are cosy and warm. Bathroom underfloor heating was a bonus. The conservatory was gorgeous but we didn't make use of it during our stay as we were out and about most days. Wifi a bonus and TV.
Close to lots of nice places to go and things to do. We did Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle, Edinburgh (twice), Paxton House, Chain Bridge, the National Museum of Flight (excellent if you want to see, and go on board, Concorde), Dunbar, Kelso, Eyemouth and lots more.
Book it - you won't regret it!

“Delightful place to stay”
Reviewed October 24, 2017 for a stay in October 2017

St Margaret's is cosy and well equipped, in an excellent location an easy walk from Spar and 2 pubs in village centre. The owner is helpful and communicative and has made every effort to make this a true 'home from home'. Coldingham itself is a hidden gem. The only slight issue is car parking, one has to reverse 30 yards down a track/lane (nowhere to turn). I managed this no problem, but if you are a nervous reverser/Parker it is advisable to discuss this with owner in advance.

Jerry, many thanks for your very kind review. Yes, some people do hate reversing out of a drive but we always reverse in, which is downhill. Otherwise cars can be left 20 metres up the lane, so then no reversing. Berwickshire is empty of traffic, not even any traffic lights anywhere near us! Malcolm

“Perfect Cottage”

This is a return visit to St Margaret's Cottage. It is a delightful cottage inside and out. The garden is lovely and if the weather permits sitting around the back on the garden chairs gives you a sea view. Nicely furnished, well equipped and a very comfortable bed. It is just a short walk to the village, coming back does involve a short but steep hill, and not to far to the beautiful Coldingham sands. This is an excellent base to explore the area, some lovely walks and plenty of attractions a short drive away. A perfect place to unwind and the conservatory is perfect for a read and a relax. The cottage gets the thumbs up from our daughter mainly due to the excellent quality of the wi-fi.

“Platinum Star Stay!!”
Reviewed December 5, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

From the moment we arrived at St. Margaret’s cottage, it was love at first sight! The pictures on the website just don’t do it justice. It's even more gorgeous in person! We are a retired couple and rented the cottage for 3 months (late Aug-Nov) and before we knew it our time was over - our stay was far beyond expectations!. If we could give it more than 5 stars we absolutely would. Our hosts were just lovely and they took care of us really well - we can’t say enough about them. They were so kind and thoughtful throughout our stay.

At St. Margaret's you have the best of both worlds…secluded and quiet countryside (lots of sheep) while at the same time there is a view across the fields to the North Sea from the upper terrace. We spent many afternoons enjoying a cup of tea up there! Bliss! The cottage was really clean, had lovely homey touches, all the dishes and utensils one could possibly need, lots of towels, loads of hot water, underfloor heating in the bathroom, a gas fireplace for those quite chilly autumn evenings and, because of our extended stay and having a lot of luggage we were very pleased to see there was plenty of cupboard space and chests of drawers. We were also spoilt by the fact that the housekeeper provided us with clean bed linen every two weeks - such a lovely treat.

The location of the cottage was perfect for us and, because it was late autumn, it was very quiet and peaceful. We saw the Super Moon as well as plenty of "Dark Skies." Coldingham village is only a short 10 minute walk from the cottage down a country path, Berwick is 30 minutes by car (if you need anything from Marks & Spencer Food Hall and Tesco) and Edinburgh is about an hour away for major shopping, Royal Yacht Britannia and other sightseeing (fyi, parking is horrendously expensive).

St. Margaret’s cottage was wonderful - Malcolm and Sally have made it so. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this amazing cottage. We absolutely loved our time there - it was bittersweet to leave.
