We ate here twice while holidaying in the area for New Year. We were really impressed by the genuinely warm welcome we received, and the home-cooked food is delicious: our toddler was a huge fan of the macaroni cheese! With a local like this, Coldingham's the kind of place I'd love to move to...!

Visited on New Year's Eve for a family meal. A good mix of old pub staples and some daily specials on offer. Loved the Chicken stuffed with haggis and wrapped in bacon with a whisky sauce. Had the crayfish cocktail to start (which could have been bigger but tasted very good).

Also liked the sizzling pork and the venison sausages and black pudding mash.

Excellent service from very friendly staff.

I visited with a family group for a quick drink following a walk on the beach. It really looked promising: the sign outside highlighted real ale and food and an open fire awaited us. Sadly we also were met with poor service, a worse attitude and a member of staff who was quite happy to lie and hence cheat. The barmaid made it clear as we came in that at 2.45pm she wasn't interested in any more customers, her first words being to say there was no food and it was last orders. As part of the order I asked what type of coffee was on offer and was told it was filter coffee. She disappeared and brought it back in due course. Apart from it obviously tasting like instant coffee the game was given away by the stray coffee granules that were in the saucer round the base of the cup. Such a shame. One of my party subsequently overheard her talking once we settled away at a table saying that she wished she had closed at 2pm as her dog was shut up at home and really needed a walk. Well, keep treating customers as idiots to be lied to and cheated and I'd imagine there will soonbe plenty of time available. So excellent beer according to my party but sadly a really poor grasp of customer care.

Visited when managed by the previous owner - before 2015. The seafood food was excellent, and we enjoyed a bleather thereafter sitting next to the fireplace in the bar area. This was just one of our visits, and more will follow when coming home to our roots. Friendly staff to have a chat with.
A venue to be recommended when visiting the pretty village of Coldingham.
