Bayside at Sandestin
Reviewed May 9, 2005

I stayed at the Bayside early May '05 and the resort is lovely, flowers smelled wonderful, but the hotel rooms are so-so. Clean but needed updating. My only real complaint was the bedding. They use terrible mattress pads and sheets that wad up with just getting in the bed. There were also no blankets on the bed, just the bedspread which I like to remove.

Pool is great with a nice breeze blowing off the bay. Easy to get to the beach by tram so no getting in a hot car at the end of the day.

Go off season when it is not crowded.

I am post-reviewing earlier reviews of the Bayside Inn at Sandestin Resort after our trip there and can't believe what I am reading. The Bayside Inn that my wife and I stayed at was a relic hotel from the 80's that hasn't seen new carpeting since it was installed when Duran Duran ruled the airwaves.

As usual, the lobby looks it was just renovated two years ago but once off the elevator you are shown threadbare carpets with no padding, scary wall paper, and maroon vanity cabinet doors ready to fall off. The toilet barely flushed and was scary to use.

The low powered air conditioning left the room dank and musty even though it appeared to be relatively new.

If we had paid full price we would have demanded a refund and slept on the beach. As it is we found a 40% discount and still feel like we were ripped off. We can't believe that this hotel is part of a great looking, high end resort. I felt like I was at a Days Inn built decades ago. I wish we had taken photos.

The rest of the resort is very nice and we will probably go back but not to stay at the Bayside Inn.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and loved it. The resort is absolutely gorgeous with fabulous amenties (most were free like boggie boards, kayaks, etc.) The rooms were on the bayside (hence the name) but getting to the beach by bike, foot or car was a breeze. We drove across each day. No problem getting there. There is a nice array of restaurants and we enjoyed a few, but also ate in town at various places. The staff is very nice and it is beautiful!

One suggestion, bring your own beach chairs and umbrella. Most of the guest know to do this. Renting from the hotel is obsencely pricey and a chair is a chair.

I loved it, the beach is clean and accessible without delay.

Last year, we met my sister there for a week. I just can't say enough about this resort - you could basically never leave. We stayed in a 1-bedroom the first night because we arrive early, then we moved to a 2-bedroom codo for the balance of our trip. The weather was great and the fishing was wonderful - we had 3 boys that caught 40 fish in 2 hrs. I defenitely want to go back and would recommend it to anyone.

The Bayside Inn was beautiful. Nice rooms. Great transportation system. Beautiful view. Had no housekeeping whatsoever during three night stay (which was not good since we had diaper age children). Pool area was constantly booked for private parties. Some childrens events were marketed to be better than they actually were. Transportation was very convenient, as long as you were not in a hurry. Some employees were very knowledgeable and some did not have a clue as to what planet they were on. Not all eateries are as kid friendly as they appear - especially in the Village. Would go again, but will be better prepared. Overall very nice.

We stayed April 10th-13th 2004. The weather wasn't so kind to
us---but--- the stay at the Sandestine Resort was.

We had a beautiful view of the bay.

Our room was very clean, the service was great, and so were the people
helping us.

They had good places to eat at the Baytowne Wharf.

We had a lovely Easter Service on the Beach.

We just wished we had more time to enjoy the beach. Our first trip to Destine was 4yrs ago and we camped at the Henderson Camp Grounds and it was Great.

We can't say enough about the Sandestine Golf & Beach Resort and the
town of Destine. It's our favorite spot to go.

We will be back again.
