Description: We are now closed for 2017. Opening date for next year will be Sunday 20th May 2018. The Skipness Seafood Cabin is a seasonal, family run venue that prepares and sells locally sourced, fresh seafood dishes. It also provides a variety of homemade cakes and scones. The Cabin is set in the idyllic village of Skipness, which makes up for its removed, some may say isolated, location with beautiful scenery, easy walks, beaches, castles and stunning views of the Isle of Arran. The restaurant aims to provide an easy going relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable and leaves well fed and satisfied! We look forward to seeing you soon.

After a lazy day on holiday (staying at Torrisdsle Castle) we had walked the dog and ended up here.
I was quite amazed by it all. It was essentially a hut by a picnic area... We were the only soles there (except the chickens, ducks & local dog)

We (myself, husband and 11month old) ordered the seafood platter and a few local beers to share.
It was full of delicious scallops, muscles, salmon (lots of different ways!) and much more... My son loved some of the salmon and salad for his dinner!

The view was fabulous, owners friendly and helpful and the best meal we have had in a very long time.

I would highly recommend a visit!

Skipness has something for everyone - a classic castle, beautiful beaches, vintage views, wonderful walks and lush locals. To top it off it has the best cabin in the country - it's a tearoom / cafe / restaurant with a menu to suit all tastes, and if you like seafood you will love Sophie's delicious platter. Our favourite is the hot smoked salmon!
Seek it out in the next week before it closes for the winter - you will not be disappointed.

Doesn't get better than eating fresh seafood eaten at waters edge with great views! It's worth the trek to go to the kintyre peninsula just for this!

Keep on keeping on down the road past the right turn to the Islay ferry, turn left for AGES, way past the Clunaig ferry to Arran, past the world's cutest post office/hand kitted sock/pastel baby jumpers shop, and on to Skipness Castle. The cabin is outside a Scottish baronial home, the seats are outside in the sun (not guaranteed) with the family dogs and chickens milling around your feet.
We had fresher than fresh king scollops and the salmon platter, surprising good with Scotland's other official drink, Irn Bru. And then delicious home baking, unpretentious and fabulous.
Watch out - the cabin is closed from end September.

Amazing setting and we were lucky with great weather. Views of Arran are stunning, simple no nonsense delicious fresh seafood. The freshly made cake was surprisingly good too! Wouldn't be the same experience if raining as tables outside so try and pick your day carefully! Also you can take your car in but there is limited parking. We parked and walked along which took about 10 minutes.
