The Barley Bree is located about 8 miles south of Crieff and about a15 minute drive from the famous Glen Eagles hotel and golf course. It is a family run affair, describing itself as a Restaurant with rooms, which is a great description as the restaurant experience is just fantastic.... but don't think that means the rooms are in anyway a second thought, they too are just lovely. Well appointed, en-suite, newly decorated. There is also a well furnished an charming guest lounge. The joint owners ,Fabrice (an accomplished french chef), and his wife (an accomplished wine sommelier) run this place as a joint concern. His cooking is just wonderful and he has some delicious and interesting dishes. There is a warm welcome and if you are into cooking you can have a good talk with Fabrice about the dishes and the produce.

We stayed at this wonderful place for two nights for a friends birthday. There were 11 of us in total, so we took up all the accomodation!!! The rooms have recently been refurbished and are lovely and clean, with really comfortable beds, the staff are very attentive, without being "in your face" and along with the owners Fabrice and Alison can't do enough for you.

The restraunt has to be the best part, the food is by far the best I've had in a very long time, absolutely superb, a sentiment shared by us all I think. Fabrice does all the cooking himself, even down to the wonderful bread he makes daily. We have sampled breakfast, lunch and dinner here and it is all faultless, and very reasonably priced.

Every request is catered for, nothing is too much trouble, our host had arranged a champagne reception, which was wonderful.

I'd reccomend this place to anyone, for a quiet getaway with wonderful service and food. First class, I can't speak highly enough!!!

Today we visited this lovely restaurant for lunch (to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary) and it was a real treat. Both my husband and I agreed it was the best food we have had this year and we have dined in some good city restaurants. We enjoyed rabbit, hake, beef and delicious desserts - the chef has a real talent.... I enjoyed it so much I wanted to leave a comment so others can enjoy this little treasure.

The staff were very friendly and also showed us around the accommodation they have on offer; 6 stylish bedrooms at very affordable rates. We will definitely return in the not too distant future and book into one of the rooms and enjoy what I am sure will be delicious dinners and breakfasts!

Enjoy and good luck Barley Bree, you have created something very special :)

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Barley Bree in Crieff, and it definitely lives up to its reputation. The food is renowed, but we also found the wine list to be extensive and very reasonably priced - an added bonus. The owners (Alison and Fabrice) and very welcoming, and we loved the food so much that we had dinner there on the 2 nights of our stay. The rooms are very clean and extremely comfortable, with many original features - including a fab roll topped bath in the room in which we stayed. With Gleneagles only a few miles down the road, and with plenty to see and do in the area, we would definitely recommend the barley bree at a lovely place to stay - we intend to return on our next trip over from Ireland!

We spent one night here for our first anniversary and had the pleasure of enjoying lunch, dinner and then breakfast the following morning. Could not fault the quality of the food, wine or service. Rooms are comfortable, clean and homely. Good value too, would definitely return and have recommended to a number of my friends.
