“Great coffee stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Stopped here on the way to Aberfeldy for coffee and cake. Great baking, friendly service and very good value. Would recommend the Birdhouse for a coffee break, lunch or afternoon tea.

If you are looking for a tea break in Muthill, Crieff.
This is the place to stop. Piping Hot soup and tea and a great selection of scones cakes & pastries.

My wife and I had a lovely time at the Birdhouse bakery in Mutthill. The afternoon tea was great, everything was freshly prepared on the premises. We would definitely visit again.

“Lovely food, very friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2013

I had the ploughman's salad for lunch with a bottle of ginger beer followed by a very nice piece of victoria sponge, The salad had plenty of cheese with homemade oat cakes and homemade soda bread. Both were excellent. The sponge was also homemade and was light and moist with plenty of filling. My friend had pear and parsnip soup and declared it delicious.

The staff were lovely and when I asked for extra pickle it was happily delivered.

I have only given 4 stars as the interior (ambience) is functional rather than cosy and the first two items my friend asked for they'd run out of. I pointed out the salt pot was empty and they admitted they were out of sea salt too! They earn an extra half point for giving us extra large portions of the cake because there wasn't enough left to keep a portion for someone else. They also stock bottled soft drinks that are a bit different from the norm (rose lemonade being one of them).

All their homebaking looked very nice and they had a steady stream of customers while we were there.

My total rating is 4.5!

“Tasty, Freshly made food combined with friendly atmosphere.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

We made a special trip just to have another slice of carrott cake. As it was lunchtime we both had an open sandwich of ham with chilli jam on homemade chunky soda bread - delicious!! Followed by homemade carrott cake and a lovely cup of coffee. If you are thinking of popping in somewhere for a wee coffee and some cake it's hard to beat this place.
