The cottage is a real home from home and had everything we needed during our stay. The cottage is in a peaceful setting and we saw an abundance of wildlife in the gardens. Many beautiful places to visit within driving distance, or a day relaxing at the cottage or down at the waters edge is just as enjoyable.
Had a wonderful week at the Old Sawmill. The cottage is lovely, the gardens are beautiful and the wildlife is amazing. We had constant visits all week from a wide variety of birds and daily visits from the stars of the show..... the pine martens. We also had really good sightings of the deer in the field next door. If you are looking for a week away from the rat race with amazing scenery and fantastic wildlife this cottage is the perfect place. The owners are really helpful and go out of their way to help you get the most from your holiday.
This is a truly beautiful place. The cottage is comfortable, immaculately clean and has everything you need, including delicious scones! Owner Jane gives a personal welcome and great advice on the best places to visit.
The weather during our stay was warm and sunny and so we made good use of the lovely gardens that are visited by a huge variety of birds, slow worms and pine martens. Deer graze regularly on the other side of the garden fence and you don't have to go too far to spot eagles, seals and other sea life.
Great walking straight from the door, including the very pretty RSPB reserve and a sheltered bay literally out of the front gate, which we enjoyed exploring on our kayaks.
This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy everything that nature has to offer.
Lovely warm welcome from owners Jane and Dave to a warm cosy cottage.Basket of tasty treats including delicious scones was much appreciated. The large garden with herd of deer, pine martens and at least 22 different species of birds to watch was superb. Across the road to the front was Loch Sunart and to the rear the wild fells of the peninsular. Had two super weeks.Views from the summit of Ben Hiant of the surrounding isles were amazing.Trip to Tobermory well worth a visit as is the lighthouse with its rugged scenery ,white sandy beaches, mountains and wildlife -perfect.
My partner and I have just returned from a five night break at the Old Sawmill Glenborrodale. After a long journey we arrived to a lovely welcome from Jane, the log burner was lit and a hamper full of treats also awaited us! The cottage itself is extremely homely, warm and very well-equipped. We took quite a lot of household goods with us (kitchen roll, toilet roll etc)just in case but were amazed to find everything we could possibly need was stocked in the cupboards! We got all the food we needed for the trip at the supermarket in Fort William before we arrived. The cottage has a lovely garden that is wonderful for bird-watching, we could have spent hours sitting and looking at all the feeders. Deer also frequent the land at the side of the cottage and the highlight was of course the nightly visits from the pine marten which we loved!
The local area is stunning and so peaceful, despite the weather we managed to visit several places including Ardnamurchan lighthouse and Castle Tioram. We also took the ferry at Kilchoan to Tobermory which is really picturesque, on the way home we saw lots of deer and stags and even a golden eagle. We also paid a visit to the Glenborrodale visitor centre, unfortunately it wasn't open for the season yet but the owners saw us outside and welcomed us in anyway for a drink!
This was our first visit to Ardnamurchan and will definitely not be our last, thank you for a lovely holiday!
