“One of the best bar/restaurants on the West Coast”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

We've been to the restaurant and bar quite a few times and enjoy it every time. They provide moorings for yachts to stay the night in front of the hotel which we take advantage of whenever we're in the area. We love the food here and the service is excellent. Last week it excelled itself with free oysters and choritzo and cheese platter handed out after being left over from an anniversary celebration. With such a great setting and delicious food we'll be back by car when the boat comes out of the water!

We stayed here for two nights in early September - looking for a true Scottish Experience as we were visiting from Australia -- What a great choice, excellent venue, great food and tremendous hospitality. The Owner, Patricia, was just fantastic at looking after her guests and we felt as though we were "family" . What an asset this lady is the the Colintraive community and visitors.
I know we will certainly stay here again...... Alan & Chris

Room Tip: The view from the front rooms is to die for !

We had a weekend away here with our six month old baby and our dog and we had an amazing time. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The bar is great and very welcoming with excellent food. Stunning location and clean and cosy room. We definitely hope to be back soon.

Really friendly and welcoming, we stayed just the one night on the way to Bute. Our small dog was also made very welcome and made friends with the resident lab.! We enjoyed our dinner in the bar, which was ample but quite expensive (eating in the restaurant costs more, we were informed).Good for seafood lovers.

Everything was quiet and peaceful and the view from our bright and airy bedroom was wonderful.

The breakfast was good and served on time. All the staff clearly work very hard.

We would certainly return, and would like to spend longer in the area.

Room Tip: We had room 2 - great views

Well well...what a fabulous wee hotel!! Two nights at this fabulous venue was just the tonic we needed. Delicious food, a fabulous setting, attractive rooms a million miles away from the standard stuff you get in larger establishments and attentive but fun staff. Crowned by good Scottish hospitality and interesting company from both a local and a yachting clientele. Patricia the owner works her socks off to ensure that guests go away happy and is cheery and engaging company after a hard day having fun in the area. It doesn't get much better.! I wish you were my local!. We will definitely be back. Ed and Fiona

Room Tip: front rooms overlooking the ferry and the Island of Bute and have the most amazing views

My wife, twin girls and myself just came off the ferry from a visit to the isle of bute for the day when we came across the colintraive inn, the staff could not be more helpful, the food was exceptional, I had the seafood linguine and wish I had asked patricia for the receipe so that I could make this at home, it was fab after we had a bad experience the day before at the loch fine oyster bar restaraunt, we will be back at the colintraive inn next time we are in the area for the delicious food and relaxed atmosphere. (Can you send me the receipe for the seafood linguine)

A small informal hotel which also serves as the local pub, shop and post office adjacent to the mainland end of the lesser of the two CalMac Bute ferry routes. An easy-going air pervades.

The very few rooms (there are only four) err towards the homely rather than the luxurious. The two rooms at the front offer a wonderful view across the Kyle of Bute. There is a walk-in shower (whose doors are very difficult to open from inside) but no bath and no shaver point. Rooms for two people have only one chair. I can never understand hotels that do this; which person do they expect to stand all the time? A small piece of nonsense is the kettle lead that is so short that the kettle can only be used on the floor. Come on guys; how much is four feet of thirteen amp flex going to cost you? The wi-fi fails to reach even the room directly above the bar, where the router is located, which leads me to conclude that it must be very old and feeble. An investment of no more than £ 40.00 would procure a modern WAP that would reach all corners of this small building; why would anyone not do this?

The restaurant offers rather more than might be expected of a four-room hotel. The menu, shared with the bar, offers a fairly wide choice with seafoods strongly represented. Some guile & imagination has been used and dishes are substantial and well presented. Prices are not cheap but represent reasonable value. Breakfasts, which have to be pre-ordered the previous evening, are excellent.

As we left the owner drew attention to the various points of interest in the neighbourhood that we did not have time to visit. She has a point; next time will spend a little longer here.
