“Home-like comfort in a fantastic location”
Reviewed March 13, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

Shelduck Cottage was exactly what we were looking for. The remote location at the head of Loch Riddon was spectacular, with lovely views over the water. The cottage was warm, comfortable, and very well furnished and equipped.

“Foodie & Family Fun”
Reviewed September 28, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Our summer hols are rarely complete without a trip to Argyle's Secret Coast - and 2017 delivered another fantastic trip. Shelduck was perfect for two families with 3 small children and 2 Labradors. Plenty of space to run around inside and out including 'the beach' at low tide.

There were a couple of new additions to our reliable old haunts. The Portaverdie Marina for an inside/ outside swim was awesome and the food delights of the Inver Restaurant, Loch Fyne Oysters and The Boathouse in Gigha were sensational with service to match.

The Barker's made us very welcome again and this part of Scotland is a jewel to be discovered and explored.

“Wonderfully comfortable cottage in stunning situation.”
Reviewed February 2, 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Perfectly set cottage at the head of the loch, and fun watching the tide coming in and out. Cottage was clean and practical with comfy beds, well appointed bathrooms, even with anti mist mirrors! Great walking along the beach and in the woods, and cottage then well set out for wet dogs and people and the log burner ensured we were cosy on our return. Great pub lunches at Colintraive, Oyster Catcher and Kames Hotel and a fun visit to the Inver Castle where the children had fun exploring the ruins and a nice cup of tea at the Inver cottage nearby. Good shopping in Tighnabruich for all we needed, everybody very friendly and welcoming.

Another fantastic trip to this lovely part of Scotland and these wonderful cottages. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, Andrew on arrival and as ever the cottage was an ace place to stay - with a young child in tow it was a good test of the facilities so with a DVD player, lovely enclosed garden, and a large lounge we were well catered for - the bathrooms and hot water are superb so bath time was a riot of fun!

The Cowal Way has been upgraded since our last visit so the decent walk to Tighnabruaich was especially rewarding and even provided seats with a breathtaking view at the half way point. The major attraction this year was the sun and we found a massive sandy beach just south of Kames.

With fishing, highland games in Dunoon, Loch Fyne and the Portavadie marina there was plenty to keep us busy - for anyone with young children there is a little gem of a playground next to the Glendaruel shinty pitch.

We also use this cottage as a base to visit the inner hebrides and a quick two day 1 night visit to Islay for Whisky tasting was well worth the effort.

Cracking holiday , cracking place to stay.
