We were following the Mourne Scenic Route on a visit to Northern Ireland and enjoying the beauty of the area but feeling very hungry. There had been nowhere to stop to eat in the previous 4 conurbations so when we saw the Bucks Head Inn we quickly parked and went in.

It has a lovely atmosphere and welcoming staff who quickly showed us to a comfortable corner and we settled down to peruse the menu. The choice was challenging - so many dishes to choose from - but as we were off to family celebration that evening we opted just for a main course.

The smoked haddock on champ with spring greens and hollandaise sauce was absolutely delicious. We live near a renowned fish restaurant which has a similar dish on it's menu which we love but..... this was even better! The fish was perfectly cooked and we were rhapsodising about it to all the family later.

Thank you for making a lovely day even better.

Top food, better than anything we've had elsewhere, friendly and helpful staff. An un-ostentatious restaurant but one which has set the bar for others to aspire to.

Had eaten here few times before and had good experience. We were a bit disappointed this time as feel it has 'slipped' a bit!
The staff are very friendly and helpful . My husband thought the fish, monkfish tail, was tasteless and I had to agree. The staff didn't make a fuss and took the price of the bill.
I couldn't eat the veg as thought they were soggy and cold.
A large crowd of dinners arrived in and the noise level shot up so much so we hastily retreated.
I do like the Bucks head and will return but maybe just for lunch

We had booked the table which is advisable we were seated immediately upon arrival. The food was of a very good standard served by friendly staff and the house Tempranillo is highly recommended.
