“Truly impressive”

We booked our stay as part of a deal with nearby Balloo House restaurant just after Christmas in the hope that it would help dispel the January gloom . It more than did so. Every need was catered for with tremendous attention to detail. Our welcome from our host Paul was outstanding and set the tone for a experience. The house is incredible and full of quirky detail. Our room - the Beam Room- was fascinating and was really more a suite than a room. It is very difficult to describe the old beams in the ceiling - just stay there and you will see why. Paul very kindly drove us to the restaurant and the next morning produced a great breakfast with the most delicious home made bread and jams. We will certainly be returning- sooner rather than later! Great hosts and fabulous accommodation!

Fantastically taken care of by our charming hosts Paul & Janice, great great service, they had even booked our table at the nearby Balloo House & indeed Janice went above & beyond by dropping us off at the Restaurant. Rather than let us face the short walk on a cold December night. The accommodation was beautiful with many quirky touches, which we loved. Just wished we had arrived a little earlier so we could had sat in out little lounge which over looked the fast flowing little river & relaxed. Very comfortable room & a freshly cooked breakfast to die for. Will definitely return & would highly recommend.

Stayed as part of deal with Balloo house. Had no idea what to expect but I was blown away instantly.

The owners could not have been nicer or more friendly. We were shown through their beautiful house to our room where they showed how to facilities. The room was outstanding. So much space yet warm and cosy and everything was spotless. The decor was modern but room retained old mill workings in the ceiling. (not well explained, you need to see it to appreciate it)

The room had its own front door which meant you did not feel like you were intruding as you came and went.

Slept brilliantly. The beds were so comfortable and the blinds on skylights meant it was perfectly dark and so quiet.

Breakfast was served between 7.30 and 9.30. Im not a morning person but it was definately worth rising for. Homemade breads, cereals fruits and full cooked breakfast. No expense spared by the host on products.

Really loved this place and have raved about it to friends. will definately consider returning next time we are looking for a wee getaway

We had a lovely stay at The Mill at Balloo. We selected it for its close location to Balloo House -a perfect short walk after dinner. Our room was really pretty and extremely spacious with a lovely view out to the little river. I loved the decor/style of the bedroom and all the little details.. We were delighted with our choice and would highly recommended it.

We stayed at the Mill last Friday night whilst dining at Balloo House restaurant. We would frequently eat at Balloo and would normally drive/ taxi backwards and forward. However, having experienced the Mill, we would definitely stay again.
This is a beautiful two bedroom B&B in a fantastic setting. We stayed in the spacious and beautifully furnished Beam Room. We loved the room and the bathroom etc- very tastefully done. Both rooms at the B&B have their own entrances from outside which is also very handy.
The hosts Paul and Janice could not have been more welcoming and Paul kindly gave us a lift down to Balloo House (even though it is short walk) prior to our meal- the short walk home afterwards was much welcomed after our five course indulgence at Balloo's restaurant- Paul and Janice even provided a pocketsize torch for the stroll home- although most of the walk is well lit until you turn off the Craigarusky Road.
We also enjoyed breakfast the next morning- fresh tea and coffee, orange juice, a selection of cereals, fresh fruit (lovely pineapple and blueberries on this occasion), a selection of organic yoghurts, toast and home baked bread as well as as a freshly cooked traditional ulster fry with locally sourced ingredients were all on offer.
Would highly recommend a visit.

Room Tip: Either room worth a visit- we stayed in the Beam Room which we loved but am quite sure the River Roo...

This is a very small (two room) B&B which could easily knock a lot of major league hotels into touch. Stayed here on a Saturday night whilst dining at Ballo House.

When we arrived I almost wanted to cancel our restaurant reservation and just sit in. The Mill is owned by Paul and Janice Acheson who have spared no expense in creating a most fantastic little gem of a place to stay in for a completely 'tranquil away from it all' sort of short break.

From our arrival at The Mill we were made feel very welcome and shown to our room by Jan who was the most incredibly welcoming host and someone who clearly has an incredible eye for detail when it comes to the furnishing of the property.

The entire place is very tastefully furnished and decorated in neutral warm tones and with little different pieces from around the world that create a very nice eclectic, travelled feel to each of the rooms, and that sort of ' I've just got home and I'm glad ' feel to it.

This is further echoed in the morning, when breakfasting in the wheel room to the sound of the river running past just outside. The larger serving spoons for the cereal appear to be a mix of hand painted African spoons and middle eastern turned cuttlery and it just seems so right and in place.

I have travelled round a few corners of the world in my life and I have to say this is one of, if not the best breakfast I have ever had anywhere. No overwhelmiing piles of food on display here, this is where you find the freshly baked homemade breads, fresh chopped berries and fruit accompanied by local organic yoghurt if you get the picture.

Me I went for the cooked option and loved every bit of it. Real, thick bacon, and traditional butcher's sausages a little bit of that fried bread that our doctors keep saying is bad for you, and some really nice mushroooms and roast vine tomatoes to give me two fo my daily five...!!

This place is Heaven on earth, and whilst I am no Doctor it will make you feel an awfull lot better !!

I did not have the pleasure of meeting Paul but no doubt will do so the next time we are back, but all that need's said now is thank you for such a fantatsic night. J&C S

Room Tip: The bedroom with the adjoining sun room beside the river is just sublime.

The Mill at Balloo is a total gem; its owners, Paul and Janice, are the most welcoming hosts and added a lot of joy to our stay. My sister was getting married the weekend we stayed at the Mill and it was the perfect place to get ready and to spend the night before the big day. At the risk of repeating what has already been so appropriately expressed below - this place is an absolute must if you fancy a little retreat and a chance to explore (or not!) what Northern Ireland has to offer. Faaaar better than any hotel and incredible value for money. Thanks Paul and Janice!

Room Tip: Both rooms (there are 2) are stunning, with two double beds and en suite. We had the top room (wood...
