On arrival we were greeted by Andrew who was very friendly and showed us to our room and explained everything very clearly. We freshened up and went downstairs to the restaurant for a meal, and what a meal it was, fantastic, well cooked and very tasty washed down with a nice bottle of wine. The food was excellent value. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being too intrusive. we had a lovely evening. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so welcoming :0)

Visited on a number of occassions food is good but the restaurant service can be a little slow but the bar service is run ragged and makes up for it. The gammon I had was excellent there is ample parking and when I came to pay was given a voucher for an extra £10 off bonus.

This was our first overnight stay at The Lamb and Flag. We had eaten there the previous week, and were impressed by the friendly, helpful staff, and description of the accomodation, and the ample, free parking.
It lived up to our expectations... the room was comfortable with all the facilities to a good standard. The breakfast was really very good, as was the personal service, which made us feel really welcome.
The food in the bar/restaurant was very nice, well cooked, and of generous portions.

My wife and I spend a couple of nights at the Lamb and Flag and really enjoyed it. The checkin was really quick and all the staff were really friendly.
The whole place was really busy and made for a great atmosphere in the evening.
Food was really good and served all day from what we could see. Breakfast was especially good and kept us going until late in the afternoon!! Prices were excellent and the location was really good for everything we wanted to do.
The room was quiet, clean and had everything needed for a good nights sleep. Only thing I can think of that was a minus was the room was quite small but this is quite irrelevant as we were out all day and most of the evening.

Just needed a B & B near Abergavenny on a short stop off and found the Lamb and Flag and read reviews before booking in. Excellent booking process with regular contact, which made us feel welcome before we arrived.

On arrival we had a little wait as the lunchtime food/bar rush was in full swing, but we were shown to our room and asked if we wanted to book a table for dinner - which we had already done in advance.

The room was very clean, recent refurbishment in the bathroom so very modern and up to date. Decent sized TV, with coffee and tea making things and a hairdryer - what you would expect to find in a hotel (not always in a B & B), so pleasantly surprised.

Had a few drinks in the bar before dinner and service was excellent. The restaurant area is very big, and great if you are dining, but not really a cosy pub to sit and chat. The food was tasty, well cooked and decent sized portions (we didn't make it to pudding, which was a shame as the cakes looked delicious), I had the 'special' which was OK, but should have opted for the 'pub grub' which looked much more in keeping with the restaurant.

A good nights sleep and a well cooked, large 'Welsh breakfast - sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, has browns' with cereals, juices, toast and coffee.

Overall good value for the B & B part of our stay.

Room Tip: We had the room overlooking the car park (room 5) which had excellent views, but the road noise may...

We stayed at the Lamb and Flag Inn for 3 days during half term. We found it on the internet and were impressed from previous tripadvisor reviews! Although on a main road (A40) you couldn't hear the traffic and the views were wonderful!
From the moment we arrived we were made welcome, every member of the team were extremely friendly, smiley and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, in fact they went out of their way on a number of occasions to offer us extra! For example, the extensive menu was difficult enough to choose from with the huge variety of beautifully home cooked food (in huge portions too) but when they'd run out of willd mushrooms for the tagliatelli, the chef and waitress came and offered me (the vegetarian!) another three alternatives not on the menu - I would have been happy with the flat mushrooms they had offered anyway! We both can honestly say that the food, service and staff were the best we have ever come across in our travels.
Our room was small but fine, we were only sleeping in there afterall! Warm, very clean and had everything we needed... including a hairdryer, TV, coffee, telephone, WiFi, ensuite shower room. We were also impressed and grateful for a wonderful welcome pack in the room with great local information which we took on board. I should also mention that there is a childrens outdoor play area and a large car park.
Unfortunately on the only full day we had during our stay it rained constantly (what could we expect in October anyway?!) so we drove through the beautiful Brecon Beacons and visited the Beacon Steam Railway. Weather permitting it is a wonderful base for walking / cycling. Abergavenny is a nice place to walk around and has many shops...and places for coffee and cake... we can highly recommend ".... For the Love of Cake!" We walked around the side of the Inn and through a field to the local Sugarloaf Vineyard, ... AN ABSOLUTE MUST for your stay! Wonderful hostess, excellent wine and very interesting to find out about Welsh vineyards!
If you are looking to stay in this area for a break, you won't go wrong with this Inn.

Room Tip: There are only 5 rooms and ours was the smallest (No 3) but it was fine and on the side of the prope...

We'd been to South Wales to attend a family wedding and thought we'd stay over for an additional three nights to explore the Brecon Beacons. We chose the Lamb and Flag after looking on the internet and were not disappointed. The setting is ideal as it's just outside of Abergavenny with plenty of parking spaces.

Our room was comfortable with a view over the valley and the Inn is situated in very scenic countryside. Sugar Loaf Mountain is very near and the drive up to the car park was thrilling in itself (very narrow and steep in places). The walk to the top of the mountain wasn't overly demanding and the reward from the summit is spectacular - a 360 degree panoramic view (you can clearly see the Bristol Channel).

Breakfasts were excellent as were the evening meals that we enjoyed. The staff were friendly and attentive (well trained) and this added to the experience. Unfortunately, my wife became unwell and we had to leave a day earlier than planned. The owner and his wife were extremely kind and supportive towards us and didn't charge us for the third night we'd booked. We found this very refreshing and helpful and regret that we had to leave sooner than intended. We would definitely return and would highly recommend the Lamb and Flag Inn.
