The approach from themain road doesn't reveal the beautiful views from the back rooms with balconies, a view also shared by the restaurant. The little balconies would be lovely to sit out on on a fine day, and even though we didn't have the weather it was still very scenic. The room and bathroom aren't large but well-appointed and clean - excellent value for money if you book online - a phone booking direct to the hotel would have been more expensive. There is also a very pleasant sitting are in the same building if you want more space. The restaurant, conservatory and bar are across the courtyard and we had two delicious evening meals there as well as good breakfasts. The early evening table d'hote menu, which is available to hotel guests all evening, was particularly good value. Lots of locals eating there when we stayed.

We dropped off here returning from a business trip in mid Wales and was aware of an early bird menu. The day had been really hot so it was nice to sit out on the terrace. We didn't go for the early bird menu but selected from the mani menu. The starters were great and we all had the beef wellington as the main with a superb selection of sides! Would go back if only to ensure this wasn't a one off experience!! We all enjoyed the food and was still talking about it the next day!

I have not stayed in the hotel, but often eat in the restaurant. If the number of locals who eat there is any indication of quality and value, then the owners and staff are getting things right.
The bar, where meals can be ordered with pre dinner drinks, is cosy and the staff welcoming. The dining room is spacious and the view of the river and the mountains beyond is spectacular.
The food is uniformly excellent, and for the set menu, very good value. There is a choice of 5 or 6 dishes for each of the 3 courses for about £20. Portions are of good size, filling but not enormous, and a choice of an extra vegetable (from a list of about 10) is included. There is always a good choice of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, and they are invariably beautifully cooked and delicious. Presentation is equally good.
The service is excellent, friendly and professional.

We held our 30th Wedding Anniversary dinner at the hotel and were 25 guests in total.
The majority of our party booked rooms to stay and these were fantastic with the best views in this area. Try and book rooms at the rear of the bedroom block as these have a small balcony overlooking the river and mountains beyond. The bedrooms are compact but so quiet considering there's a busy main road just outside.Check in was organised and swift.
The restaurant and bar are in a separate building just across a pretty courtyard and garden area.
The food was superb especially as each guests meal was cooked and prepared to order and for our number of guests this was no mean feat.
Everyone's meal was beautifully presented and service was great .
With the main courses you choose a side dish to compliment and the choices of freshly cooked vegetables is fine but the home style chips are the best ever .
We finished our celebrations in the conservatory with an iced carrot cake with rum soaked raisins and champagne.
A wonderful hotel where the staff made the celebrations that little bit more special ,nothing was too much trouble and special thanks to Debbie who arranged everything for us .

We did not stay only called in en route back home from holiday. A warm welcome from mine host and staff. Clean, efficient and a good choice on offer for lunch time. Recommended. Toilets clean and accessible for all.
