Description: The Horseshoe is a small, family run restaurant where we pride ourselves on serving quality, homemade and wholesome food using locally sourced and produced ingredients whenever possible. We aim to provide all this within a traditional, warm and cosy atmosphere in front of a roaring real fire alongside great service. Alternatively during the summer months enjoy your meal al fresco in our beautiful beer garden whilst the children play safely in our new play area.

“Delicious Food & a Warm Welcome”
Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

We dine here regularly when at our holiday home in the area. We have never had a bad meal, the food is consistently superb whether dining in a large party or just 2 of us. The meat is locally sourced from the best butcher ever (Rikki Lloyd's of Welshpool) and the vegetables and salads that accompany the meal are fresh. The food is cooked fresh to order so be prepared to wait just a little during busy times. The manager, Titch, does his utmost to make sure your visit is a successful one and is constantly supervising staff to maintain efficiency and excellent service. We have turned up without booking on many occassions and the staff have always tried, usually successfully, to accomodate us. I would recommend booking a table at busy times though or if there are a lot of you dining. The interior decor is lovely and the atmosphere relaxing and friendly. I cannot single one dish out to try as they are all superb, & we have worked our way through the menu quite well! Puddings are delicious....if you have room for one. Cannot recommend this lovely place highly enough, and will be so pleased to dine here again in March once we are back visiting the area regularly after the winter shut down at our site.

“The Adams Family Christmas Dinner Venue 2012”
Reviewed December 24, 2012

My Parents live in Newtown and it was decided we would have our Christmas meal at The Horse Shoe Inn.
We had last eaten at The Horse Shoe Inn back on Sunday September 30th 2012 and though the carvery we had was nice it wasn't that special, and what really let it down were the plates were cold and as we all know you do not put hot food on cold plates! - Service was extremly good and efficient.

The meals we had on this occasion were a totally different affair. and served on hot plates.

My father opted for the Beef and ale pie which looked and smelt delicous and was more than ample for his appetite accompanied by potatoes and vegetables.

My Mother opted for the Burger option which was good but the roll was rather tough and doughy, the fries were absolutley spot on.

I opted for the Gammon steak which vitually covered my plate and came with fries and a side salad and more than hit the spot.

Mum & Myself opted for the Eton Mess for desert and what a sugar hit that was!! absolutly perfect.

Dad had the Apple pie & Ice cream which didn't look like a genorous portion as it was served in rather large dessert bowl. but it was decieving and filled him up.

Mum & Myself opted for Coffee to finish which was very nice, a mint or a small buscuit would have been a nice finishing touch so maybe the Horse shoe Inn should consider this.

Service as back in September was faultless.

“Fantastic Staff excellent food”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We called in for a quick bite to eat. The staff were so outstanding and attentive nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent, good quality and presented perfect, we thought they may have mistaken us for someone very important or royality because we really were treated like royality. We will be back and we have sent many others there who also enjoyed their visit. Well done keep it up.

“Wonderful Food”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

Called for a meal in passing and was not disappointed. I had a huge fish and ships which was delicious and my husband had the gammon which was delicious. I was slightly disappointed with my dessert of sorbet which consisted of a small icey blob in the bottom of the dish with no wafer.
The service could not be faulted and the waitress was very pleasant and obliging. We pass this way each week on our way to the coast so will definately call again.

“Great pub food”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

Definitely a classic pub restaurant, with great food and atmosphere. Location is easy to find (between Newtown and Welshpool) so convenient. Great pub grub.
