I spent 2 blissful weeks at the Moorings with friends for the first time this August. The home gave me a good feeling the minute I walked in: beautifully decorated, with a calming, beachy feel. The open plan makes it great for socializing, we spent many a relaxing evening cooking meals (the kitchen is fantastic) and enjoying a glass of wine while looking out at the sunset over the estuary (5 minute walk down the quiet street to the pontoon and Mermaid statue!) The beds are so comfortable, complete with lovely linens… I stayed in the main floor bedroom - which has big glass doors out to the back patio. So private and quiet, I slept like a log.
There's a friendly pub a 15 minute walk from the house, with a great outdoor deck overlooking the river. In the village centre (St. Dogmael's, 5 minute drive) is a wonderful ancient abbey, with a great local market once a week. Nearby is the fabulous Pizza Tipi - a great outdoor space with live music on weekends in the summer… and the best pizza I've ever had. Poppit Sands is a 5-minute drive in the other direction… wide expanses of beautiful fine sand - and no crowds! We went dolphin-watching in Cardigan Bay (with 'A Bay to Remember') - highly recommended. There's so much to do in the area and it's really beautiful and very friendly… I wanted to stay much longer.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Moorings - It's a gorgeous home in a fantastic location. I've fallen in love with the place, and will most definitely be going back, as soon as I can.
Along with our two teenage children we spent a beautifully relaxing week in this clean, stylish and modern house which has clearly been recently refurbished. The quality of the finishes and furnishings was first class, with the main living area being open plan including a dining area and a well equipped kitchen complete with appliance instructions. The bedrooms were airy and fresh with new comfy beds and plenty of storage space, and the whole place is decorated in a clean, modern and stylish way with nice little touches here and there. The underfloor heating and smart TV felt like a luxury, as did the fab views from the front of the property. It's situated at the top of a hill in a quiet cul-de-sac overlooking the estuary so you see the rise and fall of the tide and the coming and going of the various boats.
We made the short walk into the quiet village of St Dogmaels where we found a lovely ruined abbey with nice coffee shop and a fab local produce market on the Tuesday morning. Poppit sands, an unspoilt sandy beach, was 5-10 minutes drive away and made for beautiful morning walks each day.
We'd certainly visit again.
