“Pretty good food”
Reviewed January 18, 2014 via mobile

Stopped off here whilst staying in Neath. Very nice pub with a good atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Didn't have to wait too long to get served. Food didn't take too long and was very good indeed. Would go back if I was in the area.

“A Wonderful Christmas Lunch”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

We have visited the Crown and Sceptre occasionally as a couple for an evening meal and always had lovely food. We visited this week with friends for a Christmas meal. Everything we had was superb. main meals and desserts followed by coffees and mince pies at the reasonable price of £14 95 Three of us enjoyed the turkey with all the trimmings, beautifully cooked and served with four vegetables and roast and boiled potatoes. The plates were hot and the food piping hot. The other meal enjoyed by our friend was the fish dish cod and salmon which she really enjoyed.
The desserts were delicious Two of us ate the Christmas pudding, one the apple tart and I enjoyed a very light sherry trifle which had plenty of sherry, nice sponge and fruit, custard and cream.
We rounded off the meal with three coffees and a tea served with a mince pie. The coffee was so good we ordered a second cup. The dining room decor is very relaxing and quite modern. One minor point some of the chairs have very loose springing and mean that you are sitting at the table a little too low. We must say that the staff are all so pleasant very professional young people and a credit to the management. If you want a great Christmas lunch this is the place to go.

“A fantastic night with A1 service and food”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

Held my mother's 70th birthday family party in the 'Crown' last night. Claudia and her team were fantastic. The meals were delivered to a party of 20+ with excellent timing and attention.
The food was excellent and everyone commented on its great quality and freshness. The bar staff as ever were friendly and efficient.
Many thanks to all the team there......made our night and will return many times to enjoy your hospitality.

“A lovely meal”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

We have come here many times and have never been disappointed by the food here. The service is ok but not chatty. We had the two courses for £9.75. The Thai spring rolls were lovely and the sweet chillie dip. For main I had the peppered beef sauce with veg, a favourite of mine. My husband had the pork steak and chips. The chips are crispy and creamy. Really nice food. There was an awful family in who were complaining about everything and were really loud. Not the usual clientele and I thought the owner dealt with them mavourlosly. Will come back again.

“Crown and Sceptre”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Visited the Crown and Sceptre on a sunny Monday evening the food and service were excellent. Bar man adn waiter were very pleasant and helpful. After luckily finding the last table in the lounge I ordered scampi and another person in my party ordered cod no complaints about either, the chips were outstanding. Only drawback for me is the price on drinks are quite expensive compared to other local pubs however the food and service make up for it. Will definetley be recommending & returning.
