Quiet pub close to the b and b - friendly staff - lovely food - what more could you want at the end of a long day's walk

“A wonderful pub and restaurant!”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

We ate and drank here three nights in a row while walking the 3 Castles Walk and area in mid-May, 2014. The proprietors and wait staff were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Lots to choose from on the menu and we were never disappointed with our choices. If you eat here and don't try Granny Beryl's Raspberry Hazelnut Meringue pie, you haven't REALLY eaten here! By the third night I was asking for the pie before taking our seats at the table!

“Best steak in years - better than New York's finest!”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

My daughter and I stayed at this amazing hidden gem for 3 nights over the Easter holidays and only wish we had more time there. The highlight of the trip was the food which was just sensational. I was reluctant to order the steak as I live in New York which has some of the best steak houses in the world, however this was just outstanding! Excellent quality local meat, cooked to perfection and with organic veg and fries. Better than anything I've had in years in new York.
Granny Beryl's deserts were also fantastic. Overall wonderful experience. 10 out of 10 to the Hunters Moon and only wish I lived in the UK so could visit here more often.

“So good we went three nights in a row!”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

We stayed three nights at the Old Rectory in Llangattock Lingoed while walking the Three Castles route. Before arrival we planned to have dinner one night at the Hunter's Moon, and then take a taxi to the Michelin-starred Walnut Tree for the second night. But after one meal at the Hunter's Moon, we changed our minds and decided to dine there all three nights. The food is excellent (especially the lamb dishes), the pub cozy and comfortable, and the family that runs it is so friendly and welcoming. We met "Granny" who makes the desserts on the second night so of course we all had to have dessert after that (no something we normally eat every night).

They also have a vegetarian dish (butternut squash and feta with pine nuts) that is very tasty (I ordered that the first night). Plus an excellent selection of local brews, including cider, and a nice wine list. And it is family-friendly---there were local families sitting in the front room for dinner when we arrived each night.

“Vegetarian delight”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

We went for my birthday to this pub, we found it purely by surfing the internet and were really pleased we did. It is in the middle of nowhere so don't worry if you think your sat nav is sending you the wrong way. It is a hidden gem, a 13th century pub with lovely food and friendly locals and staff. It was a lovely surprise to find something other than pasta or nut roast for me, the vegetarian butternut squash and feta cheese pie was absolutely gorgeous and the raspberry meringue for pud was to die for. If your staying in this part of the world well worth a visit.
