Booked in here for the night on a trip to visit family. Found it in 'The Good Pub Guide 2005' as 'Dining Pub of the Year for Wales and it had also an award for accomodation so we were looking forward to a very pleasant stay - how wrong we were.
Our first impression of the room was that it was ok - nothing special. Having had a long drive I decided to have a catnap before dinner. I got into the bed which I can only describe as damp with the aroma of wet dog - not very pleasant. The bathroom had seen better day and did not have a shower. There was a tv/dvd combo however the dvd player was missing and the remote control didn't work. Things could only get better we thought. How wrong we were !!!! We had booked a table in the restaurant for 8pm. We were given the menu and wine list and and told that they would take our order when we were ready - fine. We were taken to our table at around 8.45 and then had to wait a further 15 mins our starters arrived. The wine we had ordered was nowhere to be seen so we had to aske for it to be brought to our table. To cut what could be a very long story short, the service was abissmal and the food not what we were expecting from an award-winning establishment !!
Breakfast was the only saving grace but even then we were waiting about 15 minutes before anyone had even noticed we were in the dining room !!
Overall it was not a very enjoyable experience and I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.
