“Excellent week in the beautiful Wye Valley”
Reviewed January 31, 2018 for a stay in January 2018

Relaxing weekend spent in a well appointed cottage in a lovely rural setting yet with in easy reach of Monmouth. Rob and Louise were friendly and helpfull throughout our stay. Unusually for January we had some excellent weather and we were able to sit out on the patio overlooking an orchard. Good range of walks from the door and most of them have a pub at the end. The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything needed for our stay as well as some thoughtful extras such as homemade bread and apple juice as well as eggs from the friendly chickens . Excellent base for exploring the Wye Valley.

Had a great stay in this lovely cottage located in an orchard. The views are spectacular, great walks and so many attractions in the area.
Must say a big thank you to Louise for making us welcome and also making us fresh bread. We will stay again.

“Wonderful place to stay”
Reviewed July 22, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

A lovely, warm and welcoming place. We arrived to find freshly baked bread and a bottle of homemade apple juice waiting for us. Stunning views, great accommodation and very friendly hosts. The free range chickens and duck kept our toddler amused for hours. We will be visiting again.

Arrived late Friday night to be greeted by a friendly face and milk in the fridge. For Saturday morning we had ordered a full English breakfast - after all we were on holiday!! Highly recommended- set us up for the day with plenty of homemade bread and apple jam for the following day. Two nights of complete rest and relaxation had all the benefits of a two week break. Rob and Louise (plus polite and friendly children) were the perfect hosts. The cottage the perfect idyll - all you would need in a holiday let along with glorious views over the Wye Valley. Nothing is too much trouble and the chat is interesting and informative. We couldn't leave without buying bottles of homemade apple juice (after sampling the free sample left out for us). We will definitely be back - next time with Sam the Terrier in tow as there are some lovely walks we need to explore. Looking forward to our next trip to Monmouth and this ideal cottage.

“Beautiful setting, beautiful cottage”
Reviewed May 22, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Had a wonderful holiday at Highlands Cottage. We hired the cottage for the in-laws and took our caravan which worked perfectly. Amazing location and fantastic facilities at the cottage - Rob even brought us fresh scones on the day we departed. Delicious! Highly recommend for both the cottage and the camp site. Would need shower facilities on the camping field for us to come back on our own though...

“Perfect hideaway retreat”
Reviewed May 19, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Need to getaway? This is a lovely cottage right in the heart of the Wye Valley. Really close to the M48 and only 20 minutes from either Chepstow and Monmouth.
Plenty of Forestry Commission walks close by, the nearest only a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Lovely uninterrupted views from the cottage over the valley. Perfect for sitting out in the evening sun with a glass of wine! We had an excellent stay with our dogs and enjoyed long peaceful walks every day. The owner welcomed us with home made hot scones and jam on our arrival! Highly recommended if you want that peaceful retreat surrounded by amazing Welsh countryside. And with wi-Fi and sat tv for keeping up with the outside world if you want to. We definitely recommend visiting the Devil's Pulpit overlooking Tinternet Abbey.
