“Very scenic, great photo opportunities”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

The Castle and surroundings are very scenic with an abundant opportunity to take some great photos. This would be a great place to take wedding photo’s!!! The terrain is uneven in most areas so people with mobility problems may find it difficult to navigate. Small children should be kept an eye on as there is a moat and several low hanging rocks that could cause some painful reminders to pay attention.

“Beautiful castle”

Stunning castle with lots of photo opportunities. Lots of walking up and down stairs. A must visit. The TV series Merlin was filmed here.

“Details, details”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Our penultimate castle in Wales and again a very impressive one.
This one has by far the most details preserved, gargoyles, armorial bearings, toilet, floors, well preserved window- and door casings, decorations on the walls and around the fire places.
Really worth a visit!
The planned restoration to the guest rooms will be a perfect bonus.
Kids love to run around the castle and look everywhere.

I really enjoyed exploring the castle and taking in the gorgeous views. Cadw owned historic buildings etc are all very good value as well, some are even free.

“Worth a visit!”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

THe castle still has a lot of walls up, you can still see the fireplaces of the multiple storeys, and the view from the top of the tower, is really nice. Well worth a visit!
