It is difficult to make a reservation here but if you are a diver-be persistent! The diving and the dive operation are excellent!! World class walls, unbelievable visibility (200 ft!) and hammerheads!! Dive operation pampers each diver by delivering gear, changing tanks/equipment, rinsing, etc. Dive masters very safe, knowledgable and fun! Go for the week; best deal w/meals and charter from FLL, island tour, etc. This is a place for divers as there is little else to do on the island but a great way to see the real island life (as opposed to Nassau/Freeport). Food is abundant but advise ahead if vegatarian. Hotel rooms are adequate, staff friendly and anything lacking will be made up by the diving!

I recently (July 03) stayed at the Riding Rock Inn with their dive package. I chose this dive location from a 20 year old referral from a past fellow diver. The diving, boat operation, dive masters, and boat captain was very good. The visibility was excellent 150+. The marine life was OK. The reefs had some algee but were very dynamic with canyons and swim-thrus. The wall diving was very good. Shore diving was discouraged but great dive sites were very close to the hotel?? The hotel was adequate (AC worked). Could use a little renovating for appearance but when diving, who cares. The service was good and the locals are very friendly. There is no night life except the neighbor Club Med and the hotel bar. There is no shopping other than a few t-shirts. Food at the hotel was very good. Would I go back? Probably not because I don't dive that much and I want to try some other sites.
If I dived a lot, yes I probably would.

An excellent resort catering to the more serious diver. Rooms range from very adequate to normal as far as furnishings and cleanliness go. Utilities on the American schedule (110 v) and water is usually hot and plentiful. Staff is very accommodating. Meals are pricey and the menu limited but can be obtained on the package plan.
About a mile from town (?) with the marina and dive operation on site.
Diving is the primary attraction with some of the best wall diving in the world.
Visit San Sal once and you'll want to return!
